An Under 19 2nd for Leanne.
I have recently taken part in the Boston Junior Open 2013, in the Girls Under 19 age group. I played up as you can use 2 results from a higher age group. I won 2 of my matches 3-0 and lost a match 3-0 whish meant I claimed 2nd place. Now I have to train hard and prepare for the next tournament which is in Surrey in May.

An all Leicestershire affair
On the 6th/7th April I played at the regional championships for the East Midlands Girls Under 17 team. I only moved up into the under 17 age group the week before so I knew it would be hard. The team was made up from 3 Go Gold atheletes me, Lily Taylor, Mari Taylor and then my older sister Chelsea. We finished 5th out of 8 teams. Hopefully next year this placing will improve.

Simon takes 2nd
On the 13th of April I played in the Boston tournament in the Boys Under 13 event. I won my first match 3-0, and then went into the semis where I played an opponent I hadn't played before and I won 3-0 but the rallies were alot longer and the match alot tougher. In the final I faced a boy who is over a year older than me and that I had never beaten. Unfortunately on this occassion I lost 3-1. In a couple of weeks I have a silver event in Surrey then lots more training.

Simon represents the East Midlands
Over the weekend of the 6th/7th April I represented the East Midlands at the regional championships in the Under 13 Boys event. I played at number 2. We worked really well as a team and I got some results against other regions that I didn't expect. I played a North East player and after a hard match I lost 3-2, but I had never got more than 5 points in a match against this opponent before so I am really pleased. My hard training is making a big difference.

April 2013 blog
I have been training hard through the last 6months. My coach and I decided not to take part in the indoor competitions and to focus on outdoors. My season starts on 19th may opening at Loughborough international. I feel fit and ready to compete and hopefully all the hard work pays off and I jump further. I have been working on all factors in the triple jump but mostly my strength. I can't wait to get out there and compete! Wish me luck :) xx

Fell running
On Saturday 27th April i went to shropshire and competed in the second race of the Junior English National fell running championship. There are six races and it is your four best results that are counted. I won by 30 secounds and was delighted to win because i had a good battle with a well known fell runner that ended in me breaking him on the last hill. My next race is another fell run in lancashire, after that i have lots of track races that im looking forward to.

Dwars door de Westhoek Belgium
As our usual sprinter is injured at the moment, it was decided that my team would work for me in this 125 km race. It ended in a mass sprint for the line where I managed to finish 6th after such great team effort, because it was on cobbles the position you went into the finish was pretty much where you stayed. I would have liked to have got myself a bit closer to the front but I'm still happy to finish in sixth. This was my fourth top-10 finish so far this season.

Dwars door Vlaanderen (Across Flanders)
I managed to finish in fourth place, my highest placing to date in the pro ranks, having led out my team mate Dutch Olympic Champion Kirsten Wild for the win. The race was relatively short at 77km, which we completed in just under 2 hours."It was such a good day, I made a lot of attacks and still came fourth even though I was on the front sprinting from 600m to go. But the main thing was that Kirsten won which was great". It was great to be involved with the win as our team controlled the whole race.

National Championships 2013
On Sunday I competed at the National Race Walking Championships in Coventry, where I finished in second place in a personal best time of 26.25 for 5km. Since February of this year, I have knocked over a minute off of my personal best time, which is due to a lot of training both before, during and after the Leeds Camp in early April. It was a great race, and I even surprised myself at how well I performed on the day. I can't wait to carry on training and I aim to get my times down even further!

Start of the Season
After a long cold winter the Golf season has finally started and the competitions are coming thick and fast. I have made some technical changes over the winter and I have been pleased with the start of the season so far. I managed to win the Leicestershire U35 tiltle for the second year in a row and have just had a well placed 6th in the Robin Fraser County mens tournament. I am off to play in The Fairhaven Trophy at Blackpool over the weekend and will let you know how I get on.

National Club Indoor Hockey Finals
It was a disappointing end to the competition as we didn't fulfil our potential shown earlier in the day but we didn't pull it out of the bag at the right time so our opportunity was missed. Despite the initial disappointment I realised coming in the top 4 in the country is a great acheivement which shouldn't be overlooked. Time to look forward to summer league and concentrate on further improving my skills and fitness to my top most ability as everything always lead up to the start of next season when anything can happen! National Club Indoor Hockey Finals
The semi-final was a tight affair with decisions going either way but the opposition opened the scoring and gained a 2 nil lead when our heads were down.We fought hard and managed to win some penalty corners where one resulted in a goal with a couple of minutes left to go but it had come too late and the ball wasn't put back in play quick enough to gain a corner or a goal to take the game to penalty strokes. (3/4)

National Club Indoor Hockey Finals
By the third game we were into the stride of indoor hockey with our passes and shots being quicker and more accurate. With tightening of skills throughout the team we won 5-1 where I continued to score some goals. It is a shame as a team we didn't keep a clean sheet but the nature of indoor allows the game to be more open with both teams always with opportunity to get on the scoreboard. Winning all three games secured our place in the semi-final. (2/4)

National Club Indoor Hockey Finals
On Saturday, I played for my club in the U18 National Indoor finals. It took a bit of time in the first group game for us to settle into the indoor style of hockey after having only one training session prior to this competition due to it being postponed in January but we won 3-1. The second game was tighter and toughly fought as both teams had settled into playing hockey and passages of play linked well together. We fought hard and came out on top winning 4-3 and I scored 2 goals to help us secure the win. (1/4)

National Champion 2013!
After a bulk of hard training it has started to pay off, three PB's in three weekends! Today was the national championships which took place in Coventry. I hadn't done a 10km in training for a few weeks due to a minor hip injury but that didn't stop me from training hard and competing even harder! I knocked just under a minute off my previous 10km time to come home in 55:21 and in first making me national 10km champion 2013.

Goal Keeper Camp
Booked to go on the Level 2 GK course at Cannock Hockey Club on the 11th and 12th May. Should be a great camp as it is working specifically on a lot of technical skills. I am one of 20 Goalkeepers going on this camp, it will be great fun working with the other Goalkeepers! Looking forward to it!

County Festival
Yesterday was the day of our County festival, which I personally believe was a great learning curve and an opportunity for me to gain necessary tournament match experience. My team mates and I all had a terrific tournament finishing in 4th place and unlucky not to come in the top 3.

Meeting Lord Seb Coe
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to meet Lord Seb Coe and talk to him about some of his experiences and listen to him give a talk on the Olympics and other related subjects. This was a great experience and has inspired me to work even harder in training to reach my targets for this upcoming track season. (I even got on BBC news with him).
