U19 Bulgarian Junior

I've just come back from Bulgaria. First I played the junior tournament where we won our first round in doubles against an Iranian pair, and then had to play a Turkish pair in the second. We lost the first set, and then won the second and unfortunately, we lost by just 2 points in the third and the score ended up being 19-21 to the Turkish. Gutting loss but they went through to win a silver medal so very pleased with our performance. We lost our first mixed game very closely in 3, 21-19, 19-21, 17-21, but another good performance.

Tough start to season

Played two tournaments overseas in the last two weeks.

Played with a German girl in both ladies doubles but drew seeds from turkey (have been ranked inside top 50 in the world) in both tournaments and lost. In mixed had a 54 minute battle against a strong English pair that have won various national medals between them. Score was 21-16, 22-24, 23-21. Really close but unfortunately lost. Back home now and have a couple of tournaments coming up.

Futures Cup

A few weeks ago I was delighted to be selected for the U18 Penine Pumas futures cup team, a year young. The annual competition, starting next week, is where the England U18 squad is selected from, and I will be trying my best to achieve that selection throughout all 3 games.

Inter-Counties

On the 30th of August I represented Leicestershire and Rutland in the inter-counties champions, there were three rounds on the day and I wasn't really up for the task feeling quite tried after a busy week, I came away in 4th place which was disappointing knowing that I am capable of more. We learn from it and on to the next one.

Nationals 2017

I swam in the 200 butterfly at British nationals and made the final, finishing 9th in the 17/18 age group and still being 16. However just in the 17 years age group I finished in 4th place which I was really pleased with. I did qualify for the swim England nationals the following week, but me and my coach agreed that if I swam there I wouldn't be at my peak performance so we just decided to do the British nationals. I'm looking forward to working hard and improving next season. Thank you to Go Gold for the continued support.

Last race of the season

I ran tonight at Stretford in my last race of the season in the 1500m. It was a great race but I got boxed in on the second lap by some of the boys but I finished the season with another 4.12 (just 2 100's outside my pb from a few weeks ago). I am so pleased to be finishing on a high and I feel that this season has been a great building block towards next year. With a full winters training behind me and a new coach I'm really excited to see what next summers track season brings!

ITF Bournemouth

I recently played 2 ITFs (International Tennis Federation) tournaments. one in Edinburgh and the other in Bournemouth. I am very happy because I got my first ITF points. The first point is the hardest to get because you need to win 4 tough matches in a row or get to the quarter-finals of doubles. Now that I got my first few points I will get accepted into more ITFs so I can play more of them and even go abroad for some of them.

ERRIGAL INTERNATIONAL YOUTH TOUR 2017 (2 of 2)

Day 2; Stage 3: Another 3 lap road race with a big climb just before the finish. The leading group of 20+ stayed together and I finished 13th, also picking up some KoM points on the climbs and moved up the general classification

Day 3; Stage 4: A fast (25mph) crit race around a short circuit in Letterkenny. The leading group stayed together despite several attacks. I stayed near the front and positioned myself well on the final corner finishing 3rd which got me onto the podium for the final stage. I finished 12th in the GC – A good tour!

A successful meet, making the final and finishing in 6th place. Unfortunately not a pb but went faster in the final than I had in the heat. Having a break before moving to Sheffield for university.

I have just returned from an amazing 5 day training camp in Devon. I was training with fellow England judo Squad players and other judoka from around the country it was fantastic.

The coaches were not only England Squad coaches but Olympians Colin Oates and Chris Sherringham. It was an amazing 5 days full of training but also fun including High Ropes and Wipe out.

Many thanks for the funding which helps toward costs of these camps.

European Champs

We recently finished 24th at the European Championships in Kiel, Germany. A testing event with a boat breakage on the first day meant that it was hard for us to climb. However with a couple of good races we pulled ourselves into a strong position in a 97 boat fleet. Were currently in Portugal training for the 49er Worlds in two weeks time.

🌞Holiday Training🌞

After a nice few weeks on holiday in Spain 🇪🇸 with my family, it was back to training yesterday, it felt good to be back, my first few sessions will mainly be conditioning and base routines. We train longer hours in the holidays so most of my time will be spent in the gym. I'll be working hard and getting prepared for the competition season which starts at the end of September. Thank you for your continued support.

Eastern Area Judo Competition

Yesterday I competed in the Eastern Area Judo Competition the last competition as a pre-cadet. Next month I will be competing as a cadet. I won one of my three fights but in my first fight I hurt my knee which didn't help with my other fights.

British Open HBD

The British Open Handicap by distance was held at Nottingham Gun Club on the 6th of August. I shot 95/275 which put me joint first in U21's. I was A class which meant I had to shoot 5 yards further back so it was harder. I had to do a shoot off against a B class shooter for first. I won the shoot off with 23/67. I was very happy that I won as I had a dis-advantage as he was shooting from 3 yards back. so I was named the U21 British open Champion.

No rest for the wicked

Having a lovely holiday but there's no rest for me. Pre-season is fast approaching and I still have to do our pre-season workout. I must say it's not as fun doing it in 30-something degree heat though...

Quick Update

Just a quick update on the past couple of months! Unfortunately I've had no more races to date but I have booked onto the Paracycling Grand Prix at Derby Velodrome for the 26th of August. I had two weeks away last month volunteering at an outdoor pursuits center with VISTA a charity for blind and partially sighted children so had to put the training on hold but I'm now back in full swing getting ready for the end of the month. Additionally I'm using my funding to buy a new set of wheels for my track tandem, can't wait!

British Summer Nationals Pt2

I also had a really good swim in the 200fc. I qualified for the final in 7th, dropped 1.7 seconds in the final (down to a 1.53.09) to finish 4th in the 17/18yrs age group. Overall I'm extremely happy with how the season has gone, I'd like to thank GO GOLD for their continued support and I hope to do even better next season.
