Great experience at Mare Nostrum

I had a wonderful experience at Mare Nostrum, Canet. I competed in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, making the finals in the 200m backstroke.

I made some new friends whilst there and had a very enjoyable experience. My times weren't the fastest but as I wasn't tapered for the races, my coach and I were both happy.

Looking forward and training hard for my end of season meet, the British Nationals. Taper... here I come!!!

Thank you Go Gold for your continued support.

ESAA 2017

On Friday 7th July I competed at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham for Leicestershire and Rutland in the English Schools Athletics competition. I came second in my heat for inter girls 80m hurdles and ran a pb of 11.51secs. I was very pleased with this as I am at the bottom end of my age group and I had qualified for the final. On Saturday 8th July I came second in the final with a new pb of 11.15secs, which then meant that I had been selected to represent England in the SIAB schools' international competition next weekend in Dublin.

Beach Volleyball

The beach volleyball season has well and truly started with 2 events down already. I am playing with lots of different partners this season due to my normal partner being in America for the summer. Hopefully I will get some good results; I am also hitting it hard in the gym to get ready for pre season in September. I can't wait for next year to start.

Making progress

I've been working hard in the gym and starting to build back my routines in preparation for the competition season in September. I've also been working really hard on my hip physio and thankfully it's getting stronger. On Sunday I competed at Nottingham-shire County Champs, I competed beam only, which earned me a silver medal 🥈 I was really pleased with my performance as I still need to add my acro series back in. But it was good to compete again after a quiet 1st half of the year.

Progress

I have recently finished my GCSEs and they went much better than I thought, I am now training harder than ever and trying to keep the diet more healthy. I have been using the gym more now due to the extra time I now have, I feel a lot fitter than I was and I hope this all pays off for nationals.

Lord Birkett memorial Trophy

This race is an endurance race and is the length of Ullswater lake and back on 2 days (7 miles each way) and is open to every class of boat including yachts. The start line had 230 boats all fighting for pin end bias, chaos! and then after 3 false starts we were challenged with violent gusts, 3 foot waves and rocks!

Sundays wind was light or no wind in patches.

This was prep for the Fireball Europeans and we were really pleased to finish 66th out of 230 boats and 3rd Fireball out of 10.

NSSA Inland Champion!

Absolutely thrilled to win my first national title of the year, after securing the NSSA Inland Championship held recently.

The first day was very windy with waves and chop as I like it and in the first race I won easily by 4 marks length.

The second and 3rd races the wind increased to over 25 knots which caused a lot of people to capsize or some to retire and in both races I delivered bullets, and even lapped some boats, my form is coming back.

The second day of the regatta was cancelled due to lack of wind!

Carsington Grand Prix

A large fleet of 44 boats and shifty wind was today's challenge! This was my first race since having 2 weeks off to sit the main bulk of my exams so I was feeling slightly unfit! The first race left me 2nd Radial and in 10th place without handicap.

I read the gusts well but my slight dip in fitness meant I ended up 2nd Radial at the end of the day and 10th overall, however this leaves me a clear 26 places above my nearest rival in the overall series to date , so feeling reasonably happy.

I've just had my GCSE exams the last month so I had to cut down on some training. But now that they are over I am looking forward to training hard and for longer and hopefully improve greatly.

Training And Nationals

Training is going really well at the moment, after finishing my GCSEs I have been able to focus more on my swimming and helping myself to be in the best position I can be for the nationals in a couple of weeks time. My race at the British summer nationals is the 200 fly. So its good for me because I'm able to really focus on one particular race. In current standings I'm 10th going into the competition in my age group (17/18 years) so I hope to make a final and get that important second swim.

European Tour

Another great learning curve for us travelling to Germany and Spain to compete in 8 matches in 6 days, pushing us to our very best. We took a relatively inexperienced team and the boys all did fantastic. Every match we played regardless if we won or lost, allowed every player to continue their learning, as we played some fantastic opposition in Argentina, Germany and Spain. Was great for me personally to play another load of matches, allowing me to make my statement on being number 1 for the European Championships.

Thank you for the continued support,

Dyl

Bronze at National Teams Championships

Last weekend after a very long day, me and the Midlands team competed against counties around the UK. We started with one player short but despite this setback we all gave 100 percent in every fight coming out with a bronze. A very successful day with an amazing team. This competition is one of my favourite competitions in the year and this year was just as good as any previously. Such an amazing atmosphere created by competitors and spectators alike I truly enjoyed the experience and look forward to next year.

Dalby and Upcoming National Champs

The fourth round of the National Series was at Dalby and was a very muddy race. I had a great race and managed to get 3rd nationally as a first year in the age group. I was riding top 5 on the first lap then moved up to 3rd then made my attack on the second lap and then held onto the gap on the 3rd lap and then finished 3rd. Now its onto the National Champs, hopefully I can get a top 5 and as usual lots more training.

National teams competition

Yesterday, I competed at the national teams competition in Kent where I was part of the pre-cadet girls team Midlands. I was selected to compete in the higher weight category because there were no other girls in that weight category. The team won against one team but lost against two teams.

Big training month before nationals :)

At the end of last month I had Midlands which was not the best competition for me but I still managed to get times to qualify for Nationals, and I'm aiming to improve on my PB's. This month has just been a massive boost of hard training to prepare me for the British and English Nationals in the end of July and beginning of August and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Summer training

College has finally finished and summer training has started as I prepare for pre season in America. This includes a combination of hill sprints and skills training such as shooting and dribbling skills. Over the past month I have been spending as much time training as I could by doing individual workouts and playing games against my teammates everyday. Now I just need to keep up my conditioning throughout the summer.

Performance in the season so far

The first event was Scotland in April playing in the Scottish U18 which i came 12th in. Then, I played in the St Rule trophy at St Andrews and shot a total of -2 for 3 rounds of golf. It is now coming to the main part of my season at the start of July to end August. The next competition I am playing in is the English matchplay next week. As well as my events i have been playing in Germany quite often to play for a German league team which is also fitted in between my competitions.
