The Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games is part of the national 'School Games Programme' that is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire young people to take part in more competitive school sport. It is open to all young people aged 6-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds from every school across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
Delivered locally by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) and the 10 School Sport & Physical Activity Networks (SSPANs), theLeicester-Shire & Rutland School Games provides schools the chance to boost their existing work in school sport to create a year-round calendar of competition for all students
Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport stage multi-sport Super-Series, a Spring and Summer Championships (Level 3) as a culmination of year-round school sport competition, with Level 2 winning SSPAN school teams competing to be crowned 'County Champions' in that particular competition. These are run throughout the year in a selection of sports, with some feeding to regional and national finals.
