Equality in Sport

Sport can and does play a major role in promoting the inclusion of all groups within Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport. However, inequalities have traditionally existed within sport, particularly in relation to gender, race and disability.

Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport are committed to developing sport equity, both within our strategies, programme development and it is integral to support our partner organisations.

What is Sport Equity?

Sport Equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structures of sport to ensure that it becomes equally accessible to all members of society, whatever their age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality or social economic status.

Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport is committed to creating opportunities for women and girls, people with disabilities and ethnic minority communities.
