GO GOLD 2011/12
Please note that the closing date for the 2011 – 2012 Go Gold Talented Athlete Fund was Friday 16th December 2011.
Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport Competitions Board, supported by Leicestershire County Council and Leicester City Council, are pleased to support talented young athletes through the GO GOLD Talented Athlete Fund.
The aim of GO GOLD is to support talented young athletes in full-time education who are currently performing at regional or above in their sport, including those athletes who are being recognised by their National Governing Bodies as being our future Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth athletes and potential medal winners.
Funding to support GO GOLD is given by Leicestershire County Council and Leicester City Council, therefore we can only financially support athletes who live or attend a school in Leicestershire or Leicester City.

In 2010/11 we awarded 119 grants of £250, £300, £500, £750 and £1,000 across 27 sports.

In 2009/10 we awarded 125 grants of £250, £300, £500 and £1,000 across 38 sports.
The Leicester-Shire & Rutland GO GOLD Talented Athlete Fund has been awarded the prestigious Inspire Mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire Programme.
GO GOLD is awarded in three categories :-

Performance Award - Athlete at a Regional Level - The applicant should be currently competing at Regional level and should be considered by their govening body as either a potential Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth Games performing athlete. Non Olympic or Non-Commonwealth sports may be considered subject to the recognised NGB having a sporting pathway from local to international level.

Podium Team Award - Individual in a Team Sport at National Level - The applicant should be currently competing at National level or above including; British Championship, European and World level and, should be considered by their governing body as either a potential Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth Games performing athlete. Non Olympic or Non-Commonwealth sports may be considered subject to the recognised NGB having a sporting pathway from local to international level. Team sports classification must be a minimum of 'Senior Level' to be eligible to apply for this Award.

Podium Individual Award - Individual at National Level - The applicant shouuld be currently competing at National level or above including; British Championship, European and World level and, should be considered by their governing body as either a potential Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth Games performing athlete. Non Olympic or Non Commonwealth sports may be considered subject to the recognised NGB having a sporting pathway from local to international level.
