Sports Facilities Framework
Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport have developed in partnership with it’s Local Authority Partners, NGB’s, and other consultees, a Sports Facilities Strategic Framework.
The purpose of this framework is to improve and widen access to sports facilities across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland. The two documents presented represent are the detailed consultants report and the Sports Facilities Strategic Framework Summary.
The Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland area has an array of public, private, voluntary owned and managed sports facilities that contribut to the health, well-being and vibrancy of many communities. However, it is recognised by partner agencies that there are some significant gaps in sports facility provision, a lack of quality in relation to some current acility stock.
The development of a sub-regional sports facilities strategic framework would provide key guidance to all sports facility providers to jointly develop an effective sports facility mix that would benefit the whole area both from an economic, efficiency and community development perspective.
From community sports halls and training pitches to leisure centres and sports stadiums, developing a strategic framework for sports facilities across the Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland area would ultimately lead to a more efficient and effective sporting infrastructure that plays a greater role in creating vibrant, economically active and successful communities.
