Melton & Belvoir, Burleigh, South Charnwood and Rutland School Sports Partnerships are running a new organised fixtures programme.

The programme, coordinated by their Competition Manager, will align all secondary inter-school fixtures across 10 sports. The programme aims to:

• support the teachers with definitive dates for competition across the entire year (to aide with transport arrangements and staff cover)
• ensure all leagues and cup competitions feed into County and NGB competitions where possible
• provide a possible curriculum focus for lessons prior to a league starting
• set specific days for fixtures to help students remember kit (Wednesday-KS4, Thursday-KS3)
• align male and female sports so that transport can be shared to one venue to reduce costs
• provide an online system for both staff and students to view fixture dates and team statistics
• coordinate fixtures to create time for the introduction of new sports

This is part of the Competition Manager's ongoing work to improve inter-school sporting competitions, with great support from the Heads of PE.
