So my first race of the Cyclocross season has just been and it is already muddy, so the pressure washers were out in full force. I had a good race and won my category by 2:30 so I had a comfortable lead. However, this is just the start, and the first national is in 3 weeks so I am already preparing for that.

The weekend of the national champs has just been and to say the least it wasn't my best result of the season finishing 6th; after my 3rd place at the last round. But there are many more races still to come and I am still a first year. for the rest of the summer holidays I have the last round of the British MTB series to come and then I'm off to Austria to race the European MTB champs with a team of 3 so looking forward to that.

Dalby and Upcoming National Champs
The fourth round of the National Series was at Dalby and was a very muddy race. I had a great race and managed to get 3rd nationally as a first year in the age group. I was riding top 5 on the first lap then moved up to 3rd then made my attack on the second lap and then held onto the gap on the 3rd lap and then finished 3rd. Now its onto the National Champs, hopefully I can get a top 5 and as usual lots more training.

Have just finished a 4 day camp at the Forest of Dean which we did 21 hrs of riding in that time. I am at my friend Tim's house who is also on the Olympic team. We are going to be riding in the Forest for the rest of the week so a lot more riding to come. The next round of the national series is in two weeks so that will be good.

Tour of Scotland
So I have just finished racing the Tour of Scotland. It was an awesome experience to do a multiple day stage race. A crash on the first day put me out of contention. After the stage it was off to A and E to get a X-Ray of a possible fractured wrist and my cuts scrubbed out. The next two stages were painful but went well, luckily I had no broken wrist. I got 17th on the 2nd stage then 11th out of an 80 strong national bunch on the last stage.

Round 1 of the National MTB Series
When I arrived I first went out and did course practice and did 2 laps and practiced the a lines (they are the technical bits). The next day I got up at 6:40 and had breakfast then changed into my race kit and then went to warm up at 8:20 to be ready to race at 9:00. The race lasted 1hr and I was 11th overall and 2nd out of the first years in the age group. Overall the race went well but I would have liked to have been within the top ten.

Start of the Race Season
So the off season has now finished and I have just done my first MTB and Crit race of the season. I won the MTB race with a 10 second gap to second place, and the first round of the National Mountain Bike Series is this weekend so full steam ahead for that. Then the following weekend I am going up to Scotland for a 4 day stage race and then straight after that i have a 2 day training camp with the Olympic team so lots of training to come!!

This year my Cyclocross season has gone pretty well. I've won 5 regional races, am the under 15 national champ and have come top 5 in a national series races and I'm doing all this as a first year. Also since getting on the Olympic development academy my fitness has increased and so have my on bike skills. I'm looking forward to the mtb season, and looking forward to receiving this vital funding that will help me to progress in the sport.
