6 Nations

Over the summer I played in the 6 Nations for England U18. We played against Belgium, Ireland, Germany, Spain and Netherlands in a seven day tournament in Nottingham. Unfortunately, we were not able to win any of the games but it was a great experience.

I learned lots and am looking forward to the new season.

England vs Belgium

I played in a 3 match series against Belgium. As a team we looked to make improvements from the Germany series. We managed to win the first game 1-0 after battling hard and getting a last second winner. We also won the second game 3-1 putting in a good performance. We lost the last game of the series which was very tough physically.

Overall, it was good preparation for 6 nations next week.

England vs Germany

I played in a 3 match series against Germany for England U18. Unfortunately, results did not go our way as we lost all three games. Over the weekend I was able to learn a lot to take forward into future international games and it was good preparation for 6 nations which is coming up soon. Personally, I was able to score a goal in each game which I was really happy about.

I was selected to represent England Under 18 in a series vs Wales this weekend. We played three games in three days and improved as a team throughout the weekend.

We won the first game 6-2 and started the game strong. Secondly we won 5-1 and got better as the game progressed. In the final game we won 5-0 and put together all we learned throughout the three days for a good end to the series.

England camp

Over half term I went to the first training camp of the year with England U18. We had three days of intense training and played two games against an England U21 trialist side that included former junior England internationals. We played well as a team and came out winners in both games.

Overall, it was a great weekend and I am looking forward to the next training day.

Great start to the new year!

After a good indoor season of hockey playing in the National premier league, my club Loughborough Students managed to survive after an amazing final game of the season. We were 3-1 down and came back to win the game and keep our premier league status.

Now we need to carry on the form from a positive indoor season to our outdoor premier league where we currently sit in the relegation zone hoping to stay up.

6 Nations (part 2)

The final game was against Germany who we lost too previously. On this occasion we scraped a draw and ended up losing on shuffles. It was a good performance and overall the best hockey experience in my life!

Sadly it is the end of the England Under 16 cycle and next season I will have to aim to get into the U18 squad.

I was selected to play in the 6 nations in Antwerp, Belgium where we would face Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Ireland.

In the first game we faced the hosts and in a tough match unfortunately lost 3-1. The second game we faced Spain in a thriller of a match we lost out 4-3. In the third game we faced the Netherlands and we drew the game 2-2 and won on penalty shuffles which was a great result. The fourth match was against Ireland and we won 3-1.

England vs Belgium

I was selected to play against Belgium in Canterbury.

In the first match we were shocked by the style of play by the Belgium side and they took an early 4-0 lead and the match ended 5-1. However, the second match we turned things around and won the game 3-1 after playing some great hockey. I scored the third goal of the the game. In the final match the score was 2-2 and in the final few minutes we scored two counter attack goals and managed to win the game 4-2. Great series overall!

Germany vs England

I was selected to represent England U16 in the series against Germany in Cologne.

The Germans were very strong and came out fast and we lost the first game 5-2. In the second match we had our best match of the series, we were winning 2-1 with 10 minutes remaining (I scored the second goal). Unfortunately nothing went our way and we ended up losing the game 4-2 and a good performance. In a tired last match we were beaten 7-1.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience and a good chance to learn from playing a good international side.

Last week I was once again selected to represent England U16 in a series against Ulster and Scotland.
In the first game we faced an U17 Ulster side in a physical match. I scored the opening goal of the game however Ulster leveled in the last play of the game. The final score was 2-2.
The next day we faced off against Scotland U16 in another hard fought game. The game finished 4-1 to us after a great team performance.

Top 3 in the country!

I played for Leicester U16 in the National finals.

We had a tough group and lost our first game 3-1 to the eventual winners Surbiton. In the second game after going 1-0 down to Neston we recovered to win the game 3-1; I scored 2. Thirdly, we faced Havant and ran out 4-1 winners.

Finally, in the 3rd/4th playoff we face Guildford the team we lost to in the U14 final. After going 2-0 early on I scored 2 goals and eventually we got the winner to earn ourselves 3rd spot.

I am very happy with our performance and team spirit we showed.

Holland vs England

I was selected to play for England U16 vs Holland in 3 matches in Rotterdam.

It was amazing! In the first game I opened the score and we went in to the break with the score at 2-2. Unfortunately, in the second half we conceded three and lost 5-2.
However, in the second game we were leading, I scored the second to make it 2-1 but in the dying moments of the game Holland grabbed an equaliser.
In the third game, in tough condition we 4-1.

Overall, this was a great experience and I hope to be chosen in the upcoming games.

In the indoor hockey Under 16 National Championships last weekend I played in a Leicester team that came third!

The team put in some great performance on our way to the semi-finals beating some big names in the hockey world. Unfortunately, we lost the semi final to the eventual winners Surbiton HC.

I scored 9 goals in the first game and overall 16 in the 5 games we played.

Training...

Over the past few weeks there has been little competitive hockey but I am still loving it.

I have been attending the NAGS England U16 sessions at King Edwards school Birmingham.
I have also been going to play some tough summer league matches for my cousin's team Barford Tigers. I have learned lots and enjoyed the sessions.

I have Junior Regional Performance Centre U16 coming up this Sunday and I am looking forward to it!

Leicester came out 7-2 victors on the day and played great hockey as we looked to get over our final loss last year.

We scored a fantastic team goal which you can watch on my YouTube channel: RB2 hockey

First 1st team Hat-Trick!

In the last game of the season for Leicester HC we faced bottom of the league Kings Heath Pickwick.

I played the first half in midfield and grabbed the opening goal, we went into the break 3-1 up. In the second period I was pushed up the field to center forward where I managed to score two more goals before the final whistle. The game finish 7-3 to us and I scored my first hat-trick of the season!

Regionals!

I played for Leicester's U16's team in the regional round of the championship. Our aim was to try our best as the majority of the squad can play next year including me. The games were played at a high level in tough conditions.

Our first match was against Olton & WW. I grabbed the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win. The following games were tougher, we lost 2-1 to a physical Blueharts side. Then we faced a strong Cannock side in a 4-1 loss. I scored both goals.

But now we look on to next year!
