Getting back to racing
I have started to do my eight sessions again and I have also increased my gym sessions to get more power in my stroke. Starting back at my new college means that I can get to the gym easily afterwards. I have recently swam in the Annual Championships at my club, Melton Mowbray and I have got a few PBs and I am feeling like I am nearly back to my fitness
10th Sep, 2017
I swam two events in the British National Championships: 100 butterfly and 50 butterfly. I swam the 100 slightly slower than I would've liked but came 18th overall in the 16 age group. I then swam the 50 fly, just missing out on the final which I swam on my PB time. I came 13th overall and was only 0.3 off qualification for the final.

I have recently finished my GCSEs and they went much better than I thought, I am now training harder than ever and trying to keep the diet more healthy. I have been using the gym more now due to the extra time I now have, I feel a lot fitter than I was and I hope this all pays off for nationals.

Midlands was my last chance to get national times and so I was aiming to try to get at least my fly events into the British Nationals. After the weekend the results went out and I made the 50 fly comfortably as this is the event I got a PB in and I managed to just qualify for the 100 as well even though my times were not as good as last year. I am overall very pleased with these results as I am not doing as much training this year due to my GCSEs.

Midlands Championships Result
Starting off the weekend, I swam the 200 free and got a seasons best and made the final in every swim that I did except from the 100 freestyle which I sadly did a false start. On the last day I swam the 50 free and the 50 fly getting new personal bests in both events and coming home with a gold in the 50 fly and a silver in the 100 fly.
2nd Jun, 2017
This weekend is the start of the Midland Championships and is the last chance for me to get national qualifying times which I will need to compete in the British Summer Nationals. I am hoping that I qualify for 50 fly and 100 fly this year and anything more would be a great bonus as it has been very hard to come back from an injury and to cope with GCSE revision as well.

Recent Open Meets
I competed in 2 open meets over the last couple of weekends and swam my main events in both. My aim for these meets was to set a starting point and put down a marker in terms of time so I know what to improve before the national qualifying window closes. My 50 100 butterfly were both on track to hopefully get a good PB for when I peak in fitness for nationals. However, my front crawl was not what I wanted and I realise that I need to do some work on the technique for this.

ESSA- East Midlands Team
I recently swam as part of the East Midlands team for the English School's gala. This was against many other regions and went over the whole weekend in Liverpool. The team had many wins and a lot of good times and we finished 5th overall which was a lot better than last time. I swam 400 free and I didn't swim as well as I wanted to but I am not peaking at the moment so hopefully I am good shape for nationals in the event.

Leicester Winter League Gala- Winners
I swam as part of the Melton Mowbray team this weekend at Repton. As a team we had many great swims and lots of team spirit which put us out on top. I swam 100 Breaststroke which isn't really my stroke but swam on my PB and also swam the opening race, the 100 IM. It's great to swim with the rest of my team and even better when we win! Round 3 of this league is at the end of March.

First gala of 2017- Leicestershire ASA County Championships
This is my first year in the open age category so I knew this would be a challenge to get on the podium. This will be especially tough after starting the season with a major set back due to having my appendix removed, missing 6 weeks training. After finishing the 4 weekends, I came out with some huge PB's aswell as winning gold in 400 free, silver in the 200 free and the 100 IM and bronze in the 100 free even though I was against some people who were 18 and above. Very pleased with the result!
