Sportivate

Sportivate aims to capture the excitement of London 2012 and provide attractive sporting opportunities for teenagers and young adults, aged 14 - 25, to receive 6-8 weeks of coaching in the sport of their choice and be guided into regular participation within their community.

Sportivate will run until March 2015, receiving an investment of £32 million of National Lottery Funding. The programme is part of the 'Play' strand of Sport England's London 2012 mass participation legacy programme 'Places People Play'.

Sportivate Vision

To deliver, by 2015, 300,000 more participants aged 14-25 having taken part in a sporting activity of their choice and 120,000 of them being inspired by the power of sport and London 2012 to continue taking part in either the same sport or a different sport.

Local Funding

Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport will receive funding to deliver the Sportivate programme across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, with a target to inspire 6,400 young people aged 14-25 to get involved in sport.

Funding will be distributed in the following way:

  • 80% of funding will be available for the 9 Local Sport Alliances (LSAs). Any clubs or organisations wanting to deliver a project in one of these areas would need to submit a Delivery Plan via the individual LSA (please see below for contact details).
  • 20% of funding will be available in an 'Open Fund' for clubs or organisations that will be delivering projects across the county rather than in one specific area. Applications should be submitted to Lizzi Major (e.major@lboro.ac.uk).

Delivery Plans will be assessed by a local Steering Group before being submitted to Sport England who will take the final decision on how the funding is spent.

Funding is currently available for Year 3 of Sportivate which will involve projects being delivered between April 2013 and March 2014. Year 3 Delivery Plans should be submitted by Monday, 17th December 2012 (please be aware that LSAs may decide to set earlier deadlines, so please check with them directly). Download the Delivery Plan Template and Guidance detailed below.
