What is a County Sports Partnership (CSP)?

County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) are networks of local agencies committed to working together to increase participation in sport and physical activity.

Partners include National Governing Bodies of Sport and their clubs, school sport and physical activity networks, local authorities, sport and leisure facilities, primary care trusts and many other sport and non-sporting organisations.

CSPs are led by a strategic board supported by a central team of professional staff who provide leadership, co-ordination and structures which allow people and organisations to work more effectively together at a sub-regional level.

LRS is a network of partnership organisations, led by an Executive Board, with a shared commitment to:

  • Getting more people taking part in Sport and Physical Activity.
  • Developing our paid and unpaid workforce.
  • Creating a strong voice for Sport and Physical Activity.
  • Building a sport and physical activity infrastructure that is SAFE, FAIR and WELL LED.

CSPs making an impact across the sporting landscape

County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) work across the sporting landscape, actively supporting partners to increase participation in sport and physical activity. CSPs are contracted by Sport England to provide a set of core services to underpin the local delivery of National Governing Body (NGB) Whole Sport Plans and support the achievement of NGB and Sport England targets.CSPs help connect NGBs to the local area and local partners; support NGBs with the development of clubs, coaches and volunteers; help attract external investment and support the development of facilities.

What is the County Sports Partnership Network (CSPN)?

The County Sports Partnership Network (CSPN) is a nationwide network of 44 County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) which are committed to working together to provide a cohesive offer to regional and national agencies, sharing good practice and continually improving the effectiveness of the network.

The CSPN speaks on behalf of this network with national agencies and supports the development of CSPs through peer support, communication and collaboration.
