What is Active Families?
Active Families is a 4-year project funded by Sport England to engage inactive families in physical activity, creating behaviour change and encouraging families to become more active.
The project is made up of several partners (Leicestershire County Council, Home – Start charities across Leicestershire, Local District Council (Physical Activity Development Teams) and Leicestershire & Rutland Sport) and a collaborative approach to engaging families occurs. The families targeted are those who are currently engaging within the Children & Family Wellbeing Service at Leicestershire County Council.
Home – Start deliver the programme and work with local physical activity development officers to provide a bespoke offer to families to increase their activity levels. Home – Start volunteers are at the heart of the programme and they work with the families on a weekly basis for up to 6 months to help create and influence physical activity as a regular routine.
