Another Lockdown

31st Jan, 2021

With another lockdown again and the track being closed the only option I had was to keep fit and keep my motivation high.

I have been doing lots of runs to keep fit and also been doing some skills session in the street and taking it back to basics.

Hoping for this to be the last lockdown and for some racing to hopefully kick off this year, cant wait to get back out there and on the gate again.

Jan 2021

31st Jan, 2021

During this lockdown, I have been doing daily zoom sessions with my coach and 2 other players.

My coach has been working on all aspects of my fitness so that once the lockdown ends I can get back on court with a high level of fitness.

I have also been doing 2 extra zoom sessions each week that the Badminton England coaches have been doing each week to keep players motivated whilst not being allowed on court.

Hopefully this lockdown will end soon so I can get back on court and back to school.

Lockdown 3 Training

31st Jan, 2021

I have been fortunate to have a really solid block of training at home this month! I have done some really solid miles on the bike and with some brilliant Vo2 max sessions and some really good endurance focused weights as well!! I have also been able to get back to doing some training on the rowing machine after my rib stress fracture which is a great step in the right direction! Thank you once again to LRS for all their continued help and support!

Training in lockdown again....

30th Jan, 2021

Well January has been interesting :(

With all races being cancelled in December we have entered another national lockdown and with restrictions on travel this has big implications on my training. As an off road cyclist I ideally need good terrain to practice my skills but from where I live I just can't access this so I just have to do what I can. During January I have trained through floods, hail, freezing temperatures and snow and to avoid the crowds I often train before school and before sunrise. Roll on spring!

Around the World in 80 Days!!

30th Jan, 2021

Its really tough not being able to swim, as essential as it is, land training just isn't the same. With no return date in sight for swimming we need motivation to be at its highest during this lockdown. To the rescue is my swimming club the 'Leicester Sharks.' As a team and a club we have been challenged to "Walk around the World in 80 days!." Every mile we walk will be added to the clubs total with the aim of walking almost 25,000 miles!!! Thats some walking to help keep us fit and active. Not only that but we will be raising much needed funds for the charity 'Young Minds' which helps with young peoples mental health. Fingers crossed for some nice weather!! See the link below if you would like to donate or if you just want to see how we are doing.

Lockdown 3 is Tough

30th Jan, 2021

The start to 2021 sees Tennis Courts all closed again so all on court training and competition has stopped. I am working on a strength block with my S&C coach and trying to stay motivated. I catch up with my team and training buddies twice a week on Zoom which helps off court learning. GCSE work carrie's on from home which isnt easy too. I did enjoy fitness last weekend in the snow.

Start of 2021

29th Jan, 2021

Hope everyone is safe and well.

Even though we are under the elite framework, unfortunately netball has had to be put on hold. With this we have had to go online with lots of zoom calls throughout the week which includes S&C sessions, player technicals and challenges. This has been a great way for us to stay connected, continuing to motivate one another and work hard.

Hoping that we are able to get back to court soon!

January

29th Jan, 2021

Due to the national lockdown its all back to home training. My coach has once again been doing daily zoom training sessions with me and 2 of my training partners, incorporating lots of different skills in to each session to keep us healthy and positive during this horrible time. It has been a great way to keep in touch with everyone whilst keeping us all fit at the same time. I hope everyone is staying healthy and thank you to LRS for the continuous support.

Whatever the weather

27th Jan, 2021

Getting the job done is satisfying regardless of the weather. It is tough in such conditions but I am sure it will be worth it in the long run.

a new year !

26th Jan, 2021

Unfortunately we got the news of netball couldn’t carry on even in an elite setting which has meant we are back to home training with 4/5 zoom calls a week and individual sessions. I’ve been keeping a good structure and am working hard to maintain fitness! Hopefully we can get back to court soon and pick up where we left of with matches!!
i’ve been keeping up my cycling too with getting out on the mountain bike and getting muddy! It was great fun !
Hope everyone is fit and healthy !

Swimming over the christmas period

26th Jan, 2021

The past month has been really exciting for me because I can finally get back into the water after the month off of swimming due to the lockdown restrictions set by the government. I have been trying hard in every session to increase the endurance and get myself prepared for the new year and hopefully the competitions that are coming up in the future. I have also aided my training with core work which will hopefully keep my body position in the correct place when swimming for longer distances.

New Year New Focus

25th Jan, 2021

Every January is a fresh start with new goals and competitions to strive for. 2021 is slightly different. I've got competitions on calendar this year, so let's train with going in mind. It's been a long time without a focus point.

Struggling

25th Jan, 2021

With no training it's tough to keep motivated. Haven't competed since 28th Dec which I was lucky to do. Just treated as match play.

For now I'm running couple times a week, using weights to strengthen upper body & trying to stay positive. Just want to get back on court even if it's just hitting with mates.

January 2021 Lockdown Judo.

24th Jan, 2021

Coming into a new year of 2021, we are still in a global pandemic and taking all the rules seriously, but due to not being able to do judo face to face I am still lucky enough to be doing online sessions. These include judo on a Tuesday and Thursday with R.K Judo club and on a Wednesday with Leicester judo club along with fitness sessions too, (by Leicester Judo Club) which are Boxing, Hitt and Cardio and a boot camp every Sunday (with R.K Judo Club).

Training still goes on

23rd Jan, 2021

As the days are slowly getting longer, it's great to see a bit more daylight when I'm training outside. My training is still going well and currently we're still working on the foundations for the 2021 season. Although there is still a little bit of uncertainty about exactly when and where my season will start, I'm busy working hard to ensure that I will be in the best place physically and mentally for this. It's sometimes difficult to keep motivated through the winter months but I really think that it is important to find enjoyment with what you are doing to stay motivated during these times, whichever way that might look like. I hope everyone is keeping well.

lockdown again

20th Jan, 2021

As we start the new year we are faced with another lockdown. Getting into a routine as soon as possible helps me get a good ballance of training and school work. Yet again we are out of the pools, so time to focus on cycling and running a bit more. I use this time at home to continue to improve everything I have been working on last year like, S&C and flexibility, and I will continue to improve and I think we all hope of a better year and a chance to compete again.

January lockdown.

20th Jan, 2021

January hasn’t been the easiest start to the year, lockdown meaning training is compromised again and we have had to adapt yet again to not being able to do certain parts of my normal training. Making the best of things though!

But my netball club is back to running on lines sessions 3 times a week so I'm keeping busy and training hard!

FINALLY TRAINING!!!

20th Jan, 2021

So happy to be back in Sheffield training with the GB lot, hands are ripped to shreds but it's all worth it to be able to get in my chair and shoot on a proper court.

Lockdown training

18th Jan, 2021

As we are back in lockdown, as a squad we are unable to train on the pitch, therfore we have had many online calls with the England and Loughborough squad. I have also set up a gym in the garage, so have been doing daily sessions in there so i can keep in peak strength and fitness for when i return.
