Trying my hardest to keep fitness in lockdown

7th Mar, 2021

Over the past month I have been going on runs every other day to maintain my aerobic endurance and also my determination, we have also heard that pools will be opening up in April which I am happy about and also looking forward to Brtitish trials where I have qualified for the 200, 400, 800 and 1500 frontcrawl. I have started doing lots of pand work to trya and strangthen my muscles and make them ready for the time when I get back into the pool.

Back to school tomorrow 😬

7th Mar, 2021

Tomorrow will be the first day back at school for most people and I have to admit I am a little nervous. I kind of liked waking up 20 minutes before lessons started and sitting in my pyjamas for the majority of the day 😂. I am excited to see my friends though, and hopefully the opening of pools is not too far away!

Stepping up the training

2nd Mar, 2021

For me, training is going very well. My mileage is about to be increased and I am feeling stronger and faster than I have done for some time and I am trying to incorporate some hurdling into my weekly training ready for the track season! Roll on the summer when races can come back!
I hope everyone is staying happy and healthy, never underestimate the impact of spending some time outdoors exercising on your mindset.

February training

1st Mar, 2021

I have had a really solid month of training! My rib injury rehab is going very well and I am back to doing long stints of steady work on the rowing machine. I have continued to do lots of tough work on my bike and I did an FTP test a couple of days ago. The improvement I have seen since the end of November when I first started training on the bike is remarkable, my FTP was 259W (4.3W/kg) when I started and is now 284W (4.75W/kg) and it's so nice to see that I have managed to use my injury to get fitter than I have ever been!! I am so incredibly excited to put all the extra fitness I have gained while I have been injured to good use when I can get back into my boat and racing!

February judo 2021.

1st Mar, 2021

During February I have still been able to do my online judo sessions and fitness sessions throughout each day. Regarding the news from Boris Johnson about gyms opening, schools opening etc, we will hopefully be able to all get back together and train. However, for now I am still doing fitness sessions everyday and my judo sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and sometimes Saturdays depending on when my tutor time is online. This Saturday I am really excited to be able to train with an olympian Ashely Mckenzie who has competed everywhere, e.g Rio. So I am honoured to be able to train with him even if it's online!!!

New Lockdown Plan

1st Mar, 2021

With the race new lockdown plan being released I am hoping to be able to get racing this year and be able to get one major in towards the end of the year.

This is now when training steps up a level as with the possibility of there not being many races as our regular season starts in March I will have to make the most of what we can get.

Missing everything about it as its a year since my last race this weekend, Hoping to be able to be back on that gate soon.
