National Track Champs Prt 2.

First event the 2km individual pursuit. This is 8 laps going as fast as you possibly can. I was feeling better but my chest felt sooo tight. My plan was to have a decent warm up and just go as hard as possible and hope that I kept it together for as many laps as possible. My PB is a 2:22:5 and I managed a 2:20:5, so a massive PB but only for 13th place! Clearly everyone else has brought some serious form to these champs. Points race tomorrow.

A Good End To The Season

In the English Summer Nationals I swam the 50 Backstroke on Friday and came 11th with a 28.20 (a PB) and the 100 Backstroke and came 5th with a 59.98 (a SB).

To be honest I'm glad the season is over because I can now go on holiday to relax, refresh and get away from swimming to get ready for next season.

Finally, a big thank you to GO Gold for a great season and looking forward to the support for next season.

British Summer Nationals Championships

I have just got back from the British Summer Nationals, I competed in 6 events getting to 5 finals. I was thrilled to get 3 British medals in the following events: silver 400 i.m (10 second p.b) Bronze 200 Fly (4 second p.b) and Bronze in the 200 i.m (2 second p.b) and had personal best times in the other events entered. I would like to thank Go Gold and my coaching team, Jamie Evans and Rob Vaughn for their ongoing support that has help me achieve my goals for this season.

EYOF Gyor Hungary 2017

What an honor to represent Team GB in the pool. I had a long time to wait as my races were on the last 2 days, which was a physical/mental challenge. Also I was in the youngest age group band. In the 400IM I raced a 4 sec PB, breaking my County Record, moving my position on all time British rankings from 16th to 7th fastest 15 boy. Next day was my 1500 free where I raced a 6 sec PB, breaking my County and East Midlands Records, moving my position on all time British rankings from 5th to 3rd.

GB Nationals

I swam the 200m Backstroke in the GB Nationals on the 30th July. I had qualified as equal 23rd, but swam a PB by 1.3 seconds and finished 13th over all in the 17/18 year age-group (7th fastest 17 yr old).

My training has been going well, so I'm happy with my endurance, and we have tapered well, so was fully rested. I went out in a 63 and came back in a 65.

I'm now at the English nationals doing the 50 and 100 back, so looking forward to some more fast times!

Promotion for Charnwood AC

I competed in the last couple of YDL meetings for the U20 team. The last meeting was playoff in Derby for the top teams to be promoted to the Premier Division. I finished first in the 110m Hurdles third in the 100m and first in the 4x100m Relay. Charnwood finished the meeting in 1st position and this is great news to be promoted to the Premier Division. This bodes well for next seasons competitions. Well done to all the Charnwood athletes who made this possible.

1 week to go until the focus of the whole year and I am ill. I still have 1 week to go so I have my fingers crossed that I will be OK. Every athletes nightmare - illness or injury potentially ruining a season's goal. I am now counting the days and checking how I feel. I can leave training until the day before and maybe some very gentle training leading up - just turning the legs. Fingers crossed!

Summer

I am currently on a tour to South Africa for hockey, I am unable to do specific athletics training but I am taking part in lots of sport here at high altitude. I will resume normal training when I return to the uk. Blogging is hard due to the poor internet connection.

National Open Water

The day after returning home from Hungary I competed in the 3K at national open water. It was a good relaxed swim after a long week and I managed to place 3rd overall in the 15 year age category.

Last but not least

My last swim of the season was the 400 IM at the English Nationals. I swam quite close to my pb in the heats in the morning then waited a gruelling 8 hours for finals qualifying in 3rd position. Very pleased with my race and I got a podium position with a silver medal!

...and now for a well earned rest in the sun with my family before the new season begins at the end of August.

Thank you for your continued support in helping me get to the end of the season and finishing on a high.

Great Experience at British Nationals

Last week I swam the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke at the British Nationals at Ponds Forge.
I was extremely pleased with my swims, which were all very close to my pb's and I made finals in all 3 events, this was made more challenging this year being a dual age band 17/18 years.
Best finishing position was 5th in the 200 backstroke. It was an incredible experience yet again to swim at such a high level.

British Championships Review

The British Championships have just finished and I had a great time with some good results, the highlight was winning the 100m Butterfly Gold Medal in a new PB, I was also just pipped for the 200m Fly but still won a Silver Medal. I managed to make the final in the 100m 200m 400m and 800m Freestyle. Now its time for a rest..

BRITISH SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS 25 TO 30 JULY 2017

British Summer Championships 25 to 30 July 2017. I competed in the 200 freestyle finishing 5th in the final with a PB. In the 200 back stroke I won bronze in the final. I finished 4th in the 200 IM final and in the 100 fly I just missed the getting into the final. I swam in the 400 freestyle relay and the team won silver. I didn't swim as well as I would have liked but must now look towards next season. I am having a break for a couple of weeks before training starts again.

Nats

The weekend of the national champs has just been and to say the least it wasn't my best result of the season finishing 6th; after my 3rd place at the last round. But there are many more races still to come and I am still a first year. for the rest of the summer holidays I have the last round of the British MTB series to come and then I'm off to Austria to race the European MTB champs with a team of 3 so looking forward to that.

Well earned rest!

I have competed in a couple of smaller meets, an open meeting mid July and a league meet and also enjoyed a 10 days rest inbetween. I've been back to training though last week and did my toughest ever session (and survived!) on Saturday!
This Sunday I'm competing in the senior league which means I will go over the higher height hurdles in 400mH for the first time!

EYOF

Representing team GB at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Györ, Hungary, was a huge honour. I raced well with two PBs in my 400IM and 800free and placing fifth overall in both. My 400free and 200IM did not go as well but I was still very happy to be given this amazing opportunity. The atmosphere was great and I would love to be involved in another international multi sport event.

British Nationals 2017

Just back home from British Summer Championships 2017. This season hasn't been my best, 50m breaststroke didn't go to plan. Now i am looking forward to the 100M breaststroke next week, after a confident swim in the Medley Relay.

End of Season

I have three weeks off training time to relax, have a holiday and spend time with family and friends.

I start back training at Loughborough on August 28th for one week before I travel out to Turkey for two weeks on a training camp getting ready for the new season.

Overall I have had a Brilliant Long Course season dropping below sub 2.30 on 200 Breaststroke PB ,below sub 1.10 on the 100 Breaststroke PB and a PB on the 50 Breaststroke.

Also a very good short course season achieving PB'S on all my Breaststrokes. Achieving Long and Short Course Leicestershire County Records too.

British Summer Championships July 25th 2017

I travelled to Ponds Forge Sheffield to compete in 50m, 100m and 200m Breaststroke events.

Tuesday was the 50m Breaststroke which I made the final for 19 years and over and finished 7th.

Wednesday was my main event the 200m Breaststroke I swam OK in the heat, going into the final 6th fasted.

In the Final 19 years and over I WON A SILVER MEDAL which I was very pleased with.

Sunday was my final race 100m Breaststroke, I was very disappointed with my race but that's swimming for you. It's like a roller coaster ride a few ups and quite a few downs.

54th Settecolli Trophy - International Swimming Championships Rome.

I travelled to Rome June 21st to compete at The 54th Settecolli Trophy Championships, where I had entered the three Breaststroke events.

I swam alright but this meet was outdoors and I haven't competed in many competitions outdoors.

I then had three days on a training camp and some time to do some sight seeing.
