Leicestershire Double trap championship

23rd of August was the event held at Normanton shooting ground. I shot 43/50 which was enough to take the overall and U21 category. My first ever overall county win.

English and British Open Single Barrel

A few weeks back I attended The English and British open Single Barrel held at Bywell shooting ground. On the saturday I shot 95/100 which placed me 3rd in the English open U21's category. I was very pleased as I'm only 16. On the Sunday it was the British open and I shot out of my socks finishing on 99/100. That placed me joint first in U21 and A class. I shot off against Elis Jones for first and I won with 25/25 to his 24/25. That meant I'm the British open U21 champion and A class.

DTL Classic

A few weeks back I shot a big competition held at Bywell Shooting Ground called the DTL classic. I didn't shoot to the best of my ability but still shot very well. The first day I shot 98/288. The second day I shot 99/295 which was a very good score on the day. Over the 2 days I ended on 197/583 which put me in 5th place in the U21's category.

First ever Senior International Satellite

Bit late on the post, but a couple of weeks ago I took part in my first Senior World Cup event in London -great to be competing internationally again! I fenced well in the pools but only won one fight, losing two others narrowly, meaning I didn't progress to the KO rounds. It was a great stepping stone nevertheless, and has made me up my training even more!

Funding

Very grateful to receive the second half of my funding today, this will really help with some of the costs for my trip to Indonesia for the World Junior Champs on Thursday. Wouldn't be able to do it without the help from LRS.

With the 15s season back in full swing, I am pleased to be involved in an international 7s tournament hosted in Dubai in early December. I will be representing the Movember charity, who support men suffering with a range of cancer illnesses. The tournament will help raise both money and awareness for the charity which I am very proud to be involved with, please visit our crowd fundraiser page if you are interested in more information.

Loughborough Lightning vs Saracens

Following in from the high of our victory in the first game of the season, we faced a further challenge of playing Saracens away. The match was extremely physical and a close game, but unfortunately Saracens came out the stronger team, however we did secure a bonus point from tries scored, a reward we were glad for due to the performance we put in!

Preseason

Leicester Mens first team is looking very strong for upcoming games. I played in the first preseason last week against Market Harborough mens and we won 3-2. At first we started strong scoring almost instantly but then the experienced Harborough side began to take control of the game by putting two goals past our keeper. Moments later I was able to put the ball in the back of the net and level the score once again. Finally we scored a well deserved third goal to secure the win. A promising and exciting start to the season!

Cyclocross Weekend

On Saturday I did the Notts and Derby cyclocross race at Shipley Park. After a fast start the lead changed a couple of times and as the race settled down I found myself in a lead group with just one other rider. I sprinted into the last technical section to take my first win of the season.

On Sunday I did the Lincolshire cyclocross race at Spalding. This was a much flatter course. The racing was fast with one rider just ahead I managed to win a sprint with another rider to get second place.

SEPTEMBER 2017

I am now back in full training after two weeks of team building exercises with the National Centre. At the end of the second week we spent a 'Night Owl' experience in the Malvern Hills, we had to walk 20 kilometres to the site. It was an SAS type of training exercise when we had to construct a Bivouac to sleep under and cook meals from the supplies we were allocated. I really enjoyed this. I have two competitions coming up in October, the Lincoln Vulcans Meet at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, and the Manchester International Meet.

Bronze in the NHC ranking comp and Black Belt points

Last weekend I competed in the NHC ranking competition in Hertfordshire. My group was a large group of 23 competitiors but I managed to get a 3rd Place and earned a Bronze medal.

I won 2 of my fights with an ippon score which is the highest score in Judo and also earned myself 10 more points towards my black belt.

I am also going to start competing in Junior Competitions as well this enables me to earn ranking points as a junior before I leave the 15-18 age band.

thanks again

Pre season underway

I am now in my third and final week of pre season. The past two weeks have gone really well and the team is coming together already and looking very strong. We have our first NVL match in about a week and a half and I feel fairly positive about how we are going to do. This is going to be a great season and i can't wait for it to start.

British Championships

It was the British Championships this weekend. It didn't go as expected, with me failing to complete my first routine but I managed to get back on and complete my second routine. This left me in 6th place going into the final on Sunday. I completed my third routine - scooping the top mark on Sunday however I'd lost too much ground on Saturday and finished 4th.

East Midlands DTL Intercounties

The East Midlands Intercounties were held at Nottingham and District Gun club this year, and I was part of the Leicestershire and Rutland Junior team. The team was 3 people with the top 2 scores to count. I scored 293/300, which combined with the second highest score of 289 gave us a team score of 582/600. This score meant we won the Junior team event by 2 points from Nottinghamshire. My score also meant that I was the Junior top scorer for the event

New Fencing Club Night

I am currently settling into my new training schedule which includes a new club! Malvern Hills Sword Fencing, it is a more mature club, with more technically skilled fencers. It will be a more challenging club night and will definitely benefit my fencing for the future. My coach has advised more gym work to generate more explosive power!

Magazine Article

Fame at last!

My brother writes articles for the 'Barrow Voice' which is the local magazine for Barrow upon Soar. In the Autumn edition, he wrote an article about sporting opportunities for people in Charnwood, including GoGold and the Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) program, both of which I benefit from.

I now have celebrity status in Barrow!!
