Pre-Season

Starting off the new season has been going really well, I'm in the best shape I've ever been at the start of a season so I'm looking forward to what the rest of the season will bring. I've competed in a few events at local club galas and I'm excited for the inter-counties gala coming up soon, where hopefully I'll be able to finish well with some strong times.

Trent Valley Grand Prix

Game on, windy forecast!, downside river sailing, which means going against the current virtually in the bank and having to dodge

river cruisers and barges.

First race a respectable 4th and 1st Radial, 2nd race a 3rd (all with no handicap against the full rigs) and then the 30 knot forecast filled in and I got a 2nd as everyone else was capsizing and struggling, this moved me to 3rd overall and 1st Radial (by a long way) and definitely secured the series

back training hard

The winter racing kicks off with the Fireball Inland Championship in 2 weeks and we are leading the series in the Bronze fleet, which we are very happy with as this is a super hard fleet and we have an old boat!

I am stepping up my fitness levels, thank you GoGold for the gym membership, it is invaluable

D Zero National Inland Championships success

I had only been in a D Zero once before, 9 months ago, but I borrowed a boat for this event.

Light and shifty winds threw most of the 34 competitors, getting better with each race I was 12th overnight. Day 2, slightly more wind, and I delivered 2 5th's and then in the last race I got a good start and was able to maintain my lead and gain due to rapid downwind speed. The bullet meant I finished 4th overall and took the title of Ladies National Inland Champion 2017!

Trimpley Grand Prix

If I sailed well and won the Radial fleet I would win the whole series with 6 events to go!

There was some wind which enabled me to out hike a lot of the less fit adults! This was a very shifty venue, but i delivered my goal and was 1st Radial , Lady and Youth, very happy

Olympic Trials

In what is a dark time for British Bobsleigh with funding cuts and the loss of key staff members, I attended Olympic Trials last Monday where I beat several senior athletes and one of the senior pilots on the push track in Bath. I was the youngest athlete by 4 years which impressed my fellow GB team members and the coaching staff. I'm now waiting for the plans for what will be potentially my best season to date.

Exciting news

Re: Top 100 rankings 2017 long course swims (as of 18 September 2017) of swimmers from all federations born after Jan 1999. Proud to say that I have broken into the top 100 world wide, for my 1500 free, raced at EYOF Gyor in the summer.

2017 season Done!

Inter area champs at Glasgow. I am still in the confirmation phase of the Junior Academy. A good weekend here and I could be in - a rubbish one and I will be out. Points race up first. I was well up for this race and won it convincingly. This is good for the academy. The only other individual event was the Devil. I came 4th. I just ran out of gas but I got through the hectic bit. Overall 7th for East Mids. I am now waiting to find out on GB, waiting...

Cyclocross

The road racing season has now ended and the cyclocross season has begun. Sunday was the first race in the inaugural Leicestershire Cyclocross League. The first race was in Corby, the sun shone and the weather stayed dry. I came 3rd in the under 16's race and I am looking forward to the next race at Misterton Hall. It is really good having races that are local.

Bromsgrove U20 27th August

Joint first in both first and second round of poules I was ranked 9th out of 77 going into the direct elimination round. After confidently winning my first DE to get into the top 32 I was almost knocked out - at one point in the match being 8-13 down. I managed to turn it around to win the next 7 points winning 15-13. I then lost to the eventual Silver Medalist 15-11 giving me a finishing place of 13th. This was a ranking event and earned me a move up the ranks to 16th in the U20 age group.

Jim Sharlott 10km

Today I raced for the first time after being diagnosed with anaemia at the start of the summer. Training over these past few months has been limited due to recommendations made by my doctor, so I'm so happy to be back racing again! I came 3rd in the Senior Women's 10km race, and the LWC females also won the team event. The race was held in Abbey Park in Leicester, and celebrated Leicester Walking Club's 90th birthday. I can't wait to back racing more in the very near future!

Back to Training

After a great summer break I am now back in training and thankfully they are easing us all back in gently. I have started training on Saturdays at the Beacon Program, which is an England Talent centre and its enjoyable. I have an England talent day next Saturday and then back to training for the Midlands with City of Leicester.

UK School Games

I had a fantastic time at the School Games at Loughborough University and feel really lucky to have been selected both last year and this year.
I won the silver medal in the 400mH, my race wasn't the best but I have plenty to be working on over the winter as I move into the U20 age group with higher hurdles in both sprint hurdles and 400mH.
My relay team in the 4 x 400m also managed to come away with a bronze medal which was a nice finish to the day.
Thank you so much GoGold for the ongoing support!

Cyclocross

So my first race of the Cyclocross season has just been and it is already muddy, so the pressure washers were out in full force. I had a good race and won my category by 2:30 so I had a comfortable lead. However, this is just the start, and the first national is in 3 weeks so I am already preparing for that.

School Games 2017

What an amazing experience!! I was proud to be named captain of England Reds and to win Silver in the tournament, narrowly missing out on Gold down to goal difference!! Great to be top goal scorer of the competition too! Thank you to all sponsors for this fantastic opportunity.

Junior Academy confirmation camp.

Tough weekend. Day 1, a time trial recce, a watt bike test and time trial. All OK. Cyclists are pretty lucky to be able to measure performance in watts per kilo. Over a 3 minute test, my watts per kilo was 6.9. But, whatever your w/kg are if you cannot suffer it doesn't matter. Day 2 tested this with a 120 km hilly road ride aiming to average 32kph, (20mph). 3 power bars, 3 gels and 4 hours of "pressing on" later and we were all wrecked. Next weekend Inter-Area track champs. Last race of a long season.

European Cup in Croatia

I had a great trip to Croatia for the European Cup. I ranked 20th in qualification with a competition personal best, which I was really pleased with. I won my first h2h in the 1/32's but I unfortunately I got knocked out of the h2h's in the 1/16's. I would have liked to have got further in the h2h's, but I did all could do and I've learnt a lot that I can carry forwards into the future. It was a brilliant trip and I enjoyed every minute shooting for Great Britain.

Derby Open Meet

Today I competed in my last competition for the season. I ran my first 400m and was pleased with my time.

I am really pleased with how my season has gone this year, coming second at English Schools, meaning I was through to represent England, and also coming second at my first ever international competition. I was quite disappointed with my performance at the England Championships as I came seventh and was hoping to do better, however I can't complain overall as I achieved what I had worked hard to.

Getting back to racing

I have started to do my eight sessions again and I have also increased my gym sessions to get more power in my stroke. Starting back at my new college means that I can get to the gym easily afterwards. I have recently swam in the Annual Championships at my club, Melton Mowbray and I have got a few PBs and I am feeling like I am nearly back to my fitness

My first month in the US!

I have been in the US now for just under a month and I'm honestly loving it!

It has been a huge culture shock, more than I appreciate and the climate is so different too.

I love the team I train with and I'm excited for our first race next weekend!

Loughborough Last Race

On the 26th August 2017 I ran in the 110m Hurdles at the Loughborough AC Open. I won the race and ran 14.10 seconds which was quite surprising and quick. This was my last race for the season. I am looking forward to a good winters training and coming out next season strong. Thanks for your support over the year it is much appreciated.
