Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport are now working with some of our Districts to roll out the GO GOLD Athlete Funding at two ability levels; Podium and Performance.

Funding for Podium level is given by Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council and Rutland County Council.

Funding for Performance level is given by Charnwood Borough Council, Leicester City Council, Melton Borough Council and Oadby & Wigston Borough Council.

1) Podium Award - Coaches working towards their level 3 or higher

The Podium Award is a maximum of £1,000 per annum to help fund qualification fees and can only be applied for once in any 12 month period. This award requires coaching feedback via an online blog.

The applicant should be coaching in an Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth Games sport, and must be delivering in a National Governing Body performance/talent pathway programme e.g. a Centre of Excellence, Regional or County Performance Centre or County Squad etc.

The applicant will be required to hold a current Level 2 governing body award in the sport for which they are applying and be prepared to complete their Level 3 coaching award during the programme (we recognise in some sports it will not be possible to complete a Level 3 Coaching Qualification in the 12 months).

What support will the coach receive?

  • Training needs analysis and Personal Development Planning.
  • Financial support of up to £1,000 to help fund qualification fees.
  • Access to a bespoke CPD programme (based on the coaches needs, working with key partners, for example, Loughborough University & Sports Coach UK).
  • Opportunity to network with fellow performance coaches.
  • On-going support from the LRS Coaching Development Manager.
