About British Gymnastics

National Governing Body for British Gymnastics

Gymnastics covers many different disciplines.

All are skilled and challenging and require physical strength, agility and co-ordination. Under the overall description of gymnastics lie the individual disciplines and activities of:

  • Men's artistic Gymnastics (includes high bar, parallel bars, rings, floor, vault and pommel horse)
  • Women's Artistic gymnastics (includes uneven bars, beam, floor and vault)
  • Rhythmic Gymnastics
  • Trampoline and Tumbling Gymnastics
  • Acrobatic Gymnastics

British Gymnastics provides a national directive and structure for the sport; delivering a range of opportunities across the age spectrum to take part and stay in gymnastics, as well as developing talent and delivering top-level success.

Gymnastics is an accessible and inclusive sport offering opportunities to all ability levels and ethnic groups within a range of controlled learning environments. It promotes an active and healthy lifestyle and is recognised as forming the basis for physical literacy by developing fundamental movement skills.

Disability Gymnastics I'm IN Programme

The I'm IN Programme provides a range of grass roots and introductory disability gymnastics participation opportunities.


GymChallenge, a gymnastics competition with a twist


GymFit is a programme aimed at 12 year olds and above and can take place in any gymnastics environment by any British Gymnastics registered participant.


GymFusion is British Gymnastics National Festivals Programme.

MY Club

MY Club is a programme that gives teenage gymnasts an active role in the ownership of their gymnastics activity and is a great way to help clubs to keep teenagers participating in the sport.

MY Leadership Academy

The MY Leadership Academy programme is designed to create a structure which young people can follow to help them develop as Leaders within gymnastics in school, clubs and leisure centres.
