The Paddlesport Instructor Award will provide an excellent foundation in working with groups on sheltered water both in a centre and club setting. The course will introduce you to the fundementals of good coaching practices and help you to understand and develop technical and tactical aspects of the sport as both a performer and an instructor in a wide range of paddlesport craft.
There will be some classroom teaching, but we prefer to do as much as possible out on the water, so be prepared to paddle every day. Assessment is a continuous process throughout the course and will include you leading short sessions, demonstrating rescues and completing a work book. You will be expected to be paddling confidently at two star level with both single and double blades, so if you need to, get practicing.
As well as booking onto this course, you will need to become a member of British Canoeing and register with them by completing a CR (Central Registration) Form. This form and payment (£45) needs to be sent direct to British Canoeing. You will receive back a white course folder. If you haven't registered, then this can be done on the first day of the course. However, we do recommend doing this in advance so that you have your folder on the first day.
Please Bring with you:
1. The white folder sent by British Canoeing.
2. Your CR form ( stamped for training).
3. Your original 2 star/ Paddle Power certificate.
4. Your original FSRT certificate. If you need to do this course please click here
5. Personal information/parental consent form.
6. Your personal paddling kit ( for canoe and kayak) every day.
7.Pen and note pad.
This is a complete training and assessment course.
