Facility Support

Our new Facility Support section includes our Community Facility Finder, for those requiring help to find a local facility to access and further guidance and support on re-opening your facility in our COVID-19 world.

Community Facility Finder

If you're a club or other organisation delivering sport and physical activity opportunities – and you need help finding a local facility to access – then our Community Facility Finder may be able to help.

We know some facilities haven't yet been able to re-open following their closure as a result of Covid-19, meaning some groups have been unable to find a place to host their activity.

The Community Facility Finder is a useful map that contains information on facilities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland that have been reported to LRS as being open for some community activities.

To use the map, simply drag the screen to the location you wish to view and you'll see icons on-screen that each represent an open facility.

Clicking on an icon will show the venue name and postcode along with any further information we hold on that venue.

Please note: as the accessibility of venues changes regularly, we will continue to monitor and update this tool as new information becomes available.

If you are responsible for operating a facility and wish for it to be included in the finder please contact Joe Hall using the contact details below.

Guidance

UK Active have produced a framework to provide clarity and confidence to facility operators in planning their return and reopening. In addition, a Fit Together toolkit and assets can be accessed via the UK Active store.

The Rural Community Council (Leicestershire and Rutland) have made free resources available to provide guidance on the operation of community buildings, such as village halls and community centres, during Covid-19.

Leicestershire County Council have also made similar guidance available with scenarios included to help plan the reopening of facilities.

Both sets of information follow the official government guidance on the safe use of multi-purpose community facilities.

Sport England's hygiene page provides a simple overview of hygiene measure that can be implemented to reduce the risk and spread of Covid-19.

The Health and Safety Executive are asking that organisations pay particular attention to Legionella risk upon return to use of facilities and have produce guidance on managing such risks.

Inclusivity in Reopening

Activity Alliance's new guidance will help providers to enable welcoming, and more accessible environments when activities resume to ensure the benefits of reopening can be enjoyed by all.
