The General Manager will oversee the day-to-day business operations and responsibilities for Aston Villa Ladies Football Club. The role will proactively contribute to ensuring a coordinated approach to female football across the Women’s Super League 2, Development Squad, Regional Talent Club and Aston Villa Foundation community activity.

Purpose of the job:

The General Manager will oversee the day-to-day business operations and responsibilities for Aston Villa Ladies Football Club. The role will proactively contribute to ensuring a coordinated approach to female football across the Women's Super League 2, Development Squad, Regional Talent Club and Aston Villa Foundation community activity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be the primary contact for the FA for all league business / meetings – commercial, finance, broadcast, facility and fixture related issues.
  • Ensuring there is a whole club approach to delivery and Talent ID pathways for both player and coaches across all areas.
  • Work with Aston Villa Foundation to ensure exit routes into and out of RTC and Ladies teams from community programmes.
  • Oversee the development of a Female U18 Football and Education Programme.
  • To develop relationships with key funding partners to ensure the sustainability of the Club.
  • To attend all FA WSL meetings on behalf of Aston Villa Ladies First Team and Development Squads.
  • Organisation and planning of first team and development fixtures and subsequent management to fulfil fixture lists and support RTC General Manager.
  • Coordination of events, marketing and match-day promotion for the Ladies Team(s)
  • Management of staff relationships to ensure effective recruitment, day to day management and delivery of all staff work plans to agreed targets, in particular marketing / match day promotion and attendance targets.
  • Supporting the coaching / senior management team on player recruitment, contracts, registration and associated salary management.
  • Budgetary management including overseeing staff and player payroll, purchase orders and invoicing.
  • Management of relationship with facility providers around contract management, availability, usage and maintenance plan.
  • Responsibility for meeting FA Women's Super League club licence requirements.
  • Introducing fan-based programmes, events and initiatives to appeal to supporters of all ages and encourage their attendance at matches.
  • Overseeing player appearances to drive awareness of the Club locally and nationally.
  • Implementing FA national marketing campaigns at a local level to increase awareness and attendance at home games. Work with the FA national marketing team to deliver joint objectives and attend FA meetings as and when required.
  • Responsibility for creating and implementing exciting match-day experiences for fans e.g. pre-match and half-time entertainment, competitions etc.
  • Research with fans to understand motivation for game attendance and use the data to drive marketing activity.
  • To attend all home games for the Ladies to oversee the fans matchday experience and monitor reaction.

Staff Management and Training

  • Oversee the Coordination of a team of part-time staff to manage and deliver a high-quality programme
  • Line management of the Regional Talent Centre General Manager
  • Ensure a positive and progressive culture through good communication, training and motivational leadership. Address issues or concerns in a professional manner
  • Ensure delivery staff and any other relevant staff have the appropriate qualifications. Organise training for staff in order to obtained enhanced qualifications as and when required so that coaches are adequately prepared to fulfil their roles as ambassadors for the club
  • Ensure there is a comprehensive quality assurance process in place to meet the needs of the programmes
  • Recruitment of high quality qualified coaches and professionals when required. Ensuring that they meet the quality standards required by the club and FA Licence requirements.
