Introducing Kathryn, one of our Active Together Champions!
During lockdown I did the Couch to 5k, a 9 week programme to get you running for 30 minutes. I completed this and am now running for 30 minutes 2 or 3 times a week which has helped me to take care of myself physically. It has also helped me to be more active than I otherwise would have been and given me a reason to get outdoors and have a little time to myself. Although I have never really been an active person, I realised that working from home meant I was not being active at all. I have often considered doing the couch to 5k and because I wasn't having to travel to work I thought I would use the time gained to start exercising. I get a great sense of achievement and wellbeing from being active and There are times when I think I will never make it to 30 minutes and am always satisfied when I do. I feel as though I am doing something to improve my health and wellbeing by being more active which motivates me to keep doing it.

My advice if you're thinking of getting more active:
Start slowly, don't try to do too much to soon. Find something you enjoy doing!
