One You - It's Good to Walk

Just ten continuous minutes of brisk walking every day gets the heart pumping and can make you feel better, more energetic and improve your mood. Over time, it can lower the risk of serious illnesses like heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Whether you're walking to work, stepping out at lunchtime, walking to the shops or local park or taking the dog for a walk, there are lots of ways you can fit ten minutes of brisk walking into your life.

There is a free Active 10 app which shows how much brisk walking you are doing and where you can fit ten-minute bursts of brisk walking into your day. The app also sets you brisk walking goals and provides hints and tips to keep you going.

Making better lifestyle choices can improve our health. It's not easy in our busy lives - tempting treats, enhanced technology and entertainment from the sofa, but it's never too late to start!
