In October 2017, over 60 local athletes across LLR attended a newly developed 'Talent Camp' at Loughborough College. Athletes aged 12-21 years, from 15 sports, experienced a full day of athlete development, taking part in a range of both practical and theory based workshops. Experts in the fields of nutrition, media, strength and conditioning, core mobility and psychology, provided Go Gold athletes with expert advice and practical applications of their knowledge to help improve both training and competitive performance.
The camp proved extremely popular and provided local athletes with welcomed additional performance support. The camp further enhanced the offer that the Go Gold performance programme provides to local talented athletes, going beyond the existing support they receive through grant funding and free access to their local leisure facilities.
"The camp was amazing, I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to putting some of the techniques learnt in the sports psychology workshop into practice and focusing on a more positive mind-set."
