Karen said: "I'm really pleased to be joining Leicestershire County Cricket Club and I'm looking forward to working with the staff and Board at Grace Road, as well as meeting the members and fans."

At SSP, Karen is responsible for leadership and the delivery of high-quality services to users, members and stakeholders. These include elite sports organisations Surrey Stars women's cricket and Harlequins Rugby Union, as well as SSP's own professional netball and basketball franchises, Surrey Storm and Surrey Scorchers.

Having gained a degree in Economics with Management at Cardiff University, Karen worked in the clothing industry for more than 20 years. She gained a range of skills, including sales and marketing, that she has drawn on in her sports career.

Leicestershire CCC Chairman Paul Haywood said: "We are extremely pleased that Karen has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer at the club.

"Karen was the outstanding applicant with proven leadership and experience in the key areas of commercial, community and sport, which is what the club require at the present time. Karen has overseen large commercial operations and has had an important role in developing community relations in a number of different sports."

Karen will join Leicestershire CCC in late April, with Roy Bent serving as the club's Interim Chief Executive until that point.
