Why Safeguarding Matters to YOU

Club Matters want to help ensure all clubs, community groups and organisations are providing safe spaces for people to play sport and be active in.

Safeguarding, whether for volunteers, participants, spectators or athletes, is a key responsibility for every organisation. Everyone has a role to play in keeping others safe and should know what to do if they have any concerns.

Over the past few months, they have created a range of exciting, new content to help cover the salient points for clubs wanting to learn more safeguarding advice and support.

  • Firstly, they've broken down some advice and tips around key safeguarding principles into a simple and easy-to-follow infographic here. The infographic guides organisations on how to practically put safeguarding policies into place and ensure that participants are aware of the policies and how they can affect them.
  • They've worked with the Ann Craft Trust to create an introductory video to the complex topic of Safeguarding adults. The video takes you through the key principles of safeguarding adults, including empowerment, accountability and protection, as well as offering some top tips for dealing with a safeguarding issue.
  • They've hosts, Glenn and Robyn, were joined in the studio by Nicola from the Ann Craft Trust, who explained more about Safeguarding Adults and how clubs can get it right. You can listen to our special Club Natters podcast on safeguarding adults here.
