Don't miss out on nominating your 2020 Active Champions within the Borough to celebrate all the hard work, in spite of the circumstances this year!
For the past 10 years Oadby and Wigston have held their usual Sports Awards, each November, to celebrate local people's achievements in sport, physical activity and health.
Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic that won't be possible this year, but the Borough still wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate their Active Champions, via social media platforms and local websites.
But to do this, we need your help! We are looking to say thank you and celebrate individuals, schools, sports clubs or groups who have either continued to be physically active or helped others to remain active, despite the various levels of restrictions the Borough has been under this year.
You will find more information about each category below;
They are looking for individuals who have continued to be physically active during the various levels of restrictions, someone who has achieved their goals despite the additional challenges or who has helped others to be active during this period.
They are looking for schools (primary and secondary) who have creatively supported their pupils and their families to be physically active during the pandemic.
Sports Clubs and Groups
They are looking for sports clubs or groups who have adapted to the restrictions and have continued to support their members to be active in different ways during the pandemic.
Every nomination will be celebrated as long as it meets the criteria of being an individual, school, sport club or group who must live, work and/or operate in the Borough of Oadby and Wigston.
Nominations are available here.
The closing date for all nominations is 5pm on Friday 21 November. All those nominated will receive a certificate and with permission will feature on the council's social media channels from early December.
