European Championships

25th Feb, 2021

So British Gymnastics took the decision not to enter a team into the European Championships which were due to be held in Sochi in Russia. Obviously this wasn't a huge surprise but it had been a date in the competition diary for 2021. So I am still in the gym training and looking forward to seeing everyone else back to training in the future soon after the Government's latest announcements.

New Year New Focus

25th Jan, 2021

Every January is a fresh start with new goals and competitions to strive for. 2021 is slightly different. I've got competitions on calendar this year, so let's train with going in mind. It's been a long time without a focus point.

Lockdown 2.0

20th Nov, 2020

Luckily I am still managing to train but still no competitions on the horizon which is strange. Normally I'm training with a date as a focus. So life is quiet but I'm very thankful I can still go in and focus on my sport with my coach in my club and some of the junior GBR gymnasts. Not everyone is managing to do this.

Working towards gains

26th Oct, 2020

Hello. I hope you are all doing ok? I still have no competitions in sight with everything still cancelled. It's strange to train without a definite date for a competition as a target. But I'm just happy to be training, and very lucky to still manage to train at my gym with my coach and fellow gymnasts. I'm keeping busy and focusing on some routines for future competitions and making those gains.

Increasing Training hours

23rd Sep, 2020

Hi everyone. I hope you are all doing ok? I am still managing to train at my club NTGA with my personal coach. It's going steady and I have managed to add another day to my weekly schedule. So I am now in 6 days a week but I am still not back to my Pre Covid 19 program. One of my fellow training gymnasts Josh Jones has now left to go to University so we miss him and wish him all the best. I still have great support from my other training partner Ross Tait and my personal coach Harvey Smith and all the team at NTGA and my support staff and all at Go Gold. Thank you everyone.

And now with friends

28th Aug, 2020

Well this month I have actually been training with a couple of other gymnasts. Although obviously socially distanced and on separate trampolines and within our own space on the floor with our own S&C equipment. I have been training with a couple of great guys which is really enjoyable. I'm still working steadily because we have no confirmed competitions at the moment either domestic or international yet obviously.

Finally

28th Jul, 2020

After what was the longest time ever off a trampoline I'm back to training and it feels great. Obviously I have to have a phased return as neither I or my support team has ever done this before. So I'm slowly building up my time on the trampoline and building back routines and skills. We have also done a few sessions of fitness outside in the open with my fellow gymnasts socially distanced ofcourse. It's great so see everyone and get back to what I love doing.

I want to fly on a trampoline again!

26th Jun, 2020

Well I'm still doing as much as possible from home because i am not allowed back in the gym yet. I've now had about 4 months off. I have never had more than 10 days off training in gymnastics or trampoline since I was 5 years old. This is obviously very challenging and is a massive lifestyle change. I'm hoping to get back to jumping soon and I can't wait.

Training from home

29th May, 2020

So all competitions have been cancelled till next year it's now focusing on long term goals. I'm still doing what I can with s&c at home and zoom pilates and hiit training. It doesn't look like I'll be back in the gym any time soon. I miss my sport.

Lockdown training

29th Apr, 2020

Week 6 of Lock down. I've done my first few conditioning sessions on zoom with my personal coach and team mates from my club. I've also enjoyed a group pilates session with zoom. It's very different from what I'm used to doing but it works and it's good to see everyone again. I'm trying to continue with my s&c at home which is fine when its dry but difficult in these last rainy few days.

Covid 19

31st Mar, 2020

Well as you can probably guess. All competitions are now cancelled and my gym has had to close. As well as this my A Level exams have also been cancelled. I attend an online school so my classes are still running and I am continuing to do what I can with gym work and S&C from home. It's a strange time when all your targets suddenly suspended and your missing your friends and family. Keep safe, keep sane and stay indoors to protect our brilliant NHS and everybody working so hard on the front line.

Baku World Cup, Azerbaijan

28th Feb, 2020

So I was the only GB male gymnast to travel out to Baku for a World Cup. My build up had been mixed but I suppose that's life. I have competed here before as a junior but here I was competing against World Champions, European Champions and Olympic medallists - legends. My competition didn't go as I planned with two mediocre routines and I ended up finishing in the middle of the group. It was frustrating because I'd been away from home for weeks training hard and it just didn't play out. Onwards and upwards now. We had planned to compete in Italy in April but this has been cancelled and my focus is now on European Championships in Sweden in May. That and my education. I have to fit in my A Level exams too.

A month to FOCUS

30th Jan, 2020

It's been great to get back to training. I've been away from home for most of January training at the national centre for British Gymnastics through the week and catching up with everyone at my club (Northampton Trampoline Gymnastics Academy) on Saturdays to train with my personal coach Harvey Smith and see all my fellow gymnasts and staff there. It's also back to school after a Christmas break. I even managed to catch up on all my lessons before the start of term. I have a World Cup in Baku in Azerbaijan to concentrate on next month so its definitely a month for focus.

World Championships in Tokyo

31st Dec, 2019

I made it to Tokyo, with a week to acclimatise. We were training in the competition venue which is the Olympic Stadium for 2020. It's a stunning building which is all going to be used in separate projects after the games. My competition went really well and I qualified to semi finals in 19th place. I didn't believe I would achieve semi finals but I hit two PB's in qualification and qualified through to the next round. I competed again, against some amazing gymnasts. Olympic, European and World Champions. Basically my heroes!! I executed my routine, which wasn't my best and did not end up in the top 8 who go through to finals. But I did get to watch them battle it out for the World Champion title. As well as this my team mate Laura Gallagher qualified an Olympic place for the ladies in Tokyo 2020. Amazing!!

First Senior World Championships Tokyo

27th Nov, 2019

I've been in Tokyo now for just over a week. Training hard and acclimatising to the change in time zones. My preparation has gone well and I'm looking forward to the competition starting. I have had great support from my team mates, coaches and my larger team at British Gymnastics looking after everything I need. The funding from Go Gold has helped immensely towards living in this amazing city for two weeks. It's very inspiring, welcoming and beautiful but also very expensive. I'll catch up with you all next month and let you know how it goes.

First competition as a Senior Gymnast

29th Oct, 2019

Well I knew it was coming; I dreamt of competing as a senior for GBR; and I'm pleased to say it happened in Spain at the Valladolid World Cup in October 2019. I am still 17 but here I was competing with Olympic Champions and World Champions. The Worlds best in my sport ! It was a great event, my preparation hadn't gone exactly to plan with a few niggles but through determination to compete and the continued support of my coaches and extended team I was there. I ended up in 20th place - and was pleased with my performance. Onto Tokyo again in November for my first World Championships as a Senior.

Training Camp in Japan

29th Jul, 2019

I have just returned from a 12 day training camp in Japan along with some of my fellow trampolinists and some gymnasts from our artistic women and mens team. We were hosted by Keio University which was great. We did lots and lots of training but also had some time to meet some local school children. We also did a bit of a demonstration and a Q&A session which is always enjoyable. We also visited the Olympic Stadium and managed to do a bit of sight seeing. This was my first camp as a senior so we had that little bit more freedom to explore. Tokyo is looking great and the excitement for 2020 is definitely building.

Training Camp

26th Jun, 2019

This month I've continued training at my club and the national sports centre at Lilleshall. Next month it will be a bit further afield. I have been invited to train in Tokyo with some other GB trampolinists and we will be joined by mens and womens artistic gymnasts too. I have been to Tokyo before, in fact I celebrated my 15th birthday there, two years ago. This time will be different though, I'm not competing so it will hopefully give us a chance to train, soak up the city and also have a look at how they are getting ready for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Domestic Competition Season Starts

28th May, 2019

It's been six months since I last competed in Argentina at the Youth Olympic Games winning a silver medal. So it has been a long time. May meant I had the Spring Series event 1 and the English Championship qualification round one. So my first competition as a senior went well picking up a gold medal and hitting qualification scores. The second competition this month also went well and I brought home another gold medal.

Training

28th Feb, 2019

This month I have been concentrating on training mainly at my club. I have had to change my routines to comply with the senior guidelines and requirements. It's been a steady process with some good days and some not so good days, but I'm pleased to say I have had a good week and feel happy with where I am. I'm now off to my second senior training camp for the rest of the week at our national headquarters where it will be a good mix of strength, conditioning and training on the trampoline.
