Training is back

28th Mar, 2021

At the start of the month, we had England camp which was awesome and great to get back on the court.

We have been fortunate enough to be back to training with Lightning having two technical sessions and one gym session a week. It's been great to be off the zoom screens and seeing the team in person.

Next month is selection camp for England Roses Academy Long squad which is super exciting and nice to see things getting back too normal.

Looking forward to continuing to build and be ready for camp and matches hopefully starting next month.

Hope everyone is safe and well.

Lockdown Training continues

28th Feb, 2021

This month I've continued to train at home with a mixture of S&C sessions, netball movement session and challenges. Having zoom sessions together has really helped us to stay connected and motivated.

The good news is that we are able to return to training next week which is super exciting and so grateful that we are able to get back onto the court. I also have Camp for Roses Academy Long Squad next weekend which I'm looking forward to.

Can't wait to get back to some sense of normality.

Hope everyone is safe and well.

Start of 2021

29th Jan, 2021

Hope everyone is safe and well.

Even though we are under the elite framework, unfortunately netball has had to be put on hold. With this we have had to go online with lots of zoom calls throughout the week which includes S&C sessions, player technicals and challenges. This has been a great way for us to stay connected, continuing to motivate one another and work hard.

Hoping that we are able to get back to court soon!

Looking forward to 2021!

29th Dec, 2020

Trials which were meant to take place before Christmas were unfortunately cancelled but the good news is that they have been rescheduled for January with the final selection in February. In the meantime, all invited athletes have been but into a long squad which I am so grateful for the opportunity.

Had a bit of time to rest and recover over Christmas and working hard for upcoming trials. Looking forward to what 2021 brings.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a happy new year.

Training update

28th Nov, 2020

Through lockdown most training has had to be put online but Lightning U19 academy has been able to be classed as elite meaning we have been lucky enough to continue to train indoors! It's been great to get to know the new team and looking forward to matches hopefully in the new year. Working hard with my training to keep my fitness up in preparation for trials next month.

Netball is back indoors

25th Oct, 2020

We are now allowed to play netball indoors in either bubbles of 6 or as an under 18 group. It's so great to be back on the court. I've now completed trials for U19 Loughborough lightning which were really fun and was great to see team mates again.

I have also been invited to England Roses academy trials for the 2020/21 season which is an amazing opportunity that I'm so grateful for. With that in mind I am making sure that I keep up with my training schedule so that I am ready for the trials next month.

Hope everyone is safe and well.

Training is back !

20th Sep, 2020

We have finally been able to get back to training. Three weeks into a weekly training session where we have been able to play the modified game of netball. It's a little strange to get used to but it is so nice to get back on the court.

It's great to see my team mates again and work together to nail the basics ready for competition to begin in November.

I have also started back at college so with netball my weeks are starting to fill back up again just like they were before lockdown, which is great to get into a routine again.

Looking forward to the weeks to come!

Training update

15th Aug, 2020

I am continuing to train from home which includes a mixture of strength and conditioning sessions and ball work. Recently, my netball club strength and conditioning sessions have restarted after lockdown. With social distancing and COVID precautions in place, it has meant that I have been able to train with some team mates again and it is great feel some sense of normality.

I have also had the opportunity to join a small training bubble meaning that once a week I can meet with my coach and team mates and complete a range of netball drills and fitness so that we are ready to get back to training hopefully later this year.

Rest and Recovery time

12th Jul, 2020

We are currently in the middle of a 4 week off-season with the first 2 weeks being rest and recovery, which was needed after all the hard work we've done this season and throughout lockdown. I have been using this time to get creative and try new things.

For the past month, not much has changed. We are still not allowed to play netball which has been very hard as I am missing it very much, but I hoping that within a few weeks with lockdown restrictions potentially lifting further that we may be able to see that change in our training schedule.

Hope everyone is safe and well.

Training continues

14th Jun, 2020

I have continued to train with a mixture of strength and conditioning sessions as well as some ball work and netball movement sessions to keep up my fitness and netball skills. I have found that staying in a routine helps to keep my motivation high and provide structure to my week. I have been able to stay in contact with my team, where we are able to encourage each other, sharing challenges and completing sessions together over zoom.

Looking forward to getting back on the court whenever that will be!

Training in lockdown

7th May, 2020

At first, it was difficult trying to figure out how to train well in lockdown. Now I have been able to settle into more of a routine at home which includes strength and conditioning sessions, ball and wall work as well as agility and netball-based drills in my garden.

Normally, I would have access to a wide range of equipment to complete my training. However, during lockdown I have had to think outside the box and use various objects and pieces of equipment that I have around the house. This has definitely been a challenge but it has presented me with an opportunity to get creative and come up with new and fun ideas.

My first cap

2nd Apr, 2020

Firstly, I would just like to say thank you for GoGold funding for selecting me for your programme.

Earlier on this year, I was selected to play netball for England at the U17 Netball Europe championship 2020. It was a three-day competition where we played Northern Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland and Wales. Not only was I able to receive my first cap but we became U17 Netball Europe champions. It was the most incredible experience and something I will never forget.

Currently with the COVID-19 situation, I am having to complete everything from home. It is a very strange time and makes me realise how much I can miss netball. But it is great to see that the team dynamic works just as well-off court as it does on court. And it is this that will keep me motivated in the weeks to come.
