Judo Normality ? 2021

21st Apr, 2021

Beginning April 12th there was a start to normality in judo. I went to another club for extra training on Wednesday, but as of bubbles I trained with my dad on a separate mat, where we worked really hard and did some strangles on each other. Then on Saturday I went to my club and did some contact judo 🥋 for the first time in a year in somebody from my club! Then the rules were lifted even more and I was able to train contact with the other judo club again, so I trained on Monday as well and did some contact there too. I am so happy we are back to some sort of normality and can’t wait for competitions to start again!!

Online training with an Olympian.

29th Mar, 2021

In the beginning of March I trained with an Olympian named Ashley Mckenzie, who has fought worldwide such as in Tokyo. I learned how to improve my techniques and change different grips on certain techniques as getting older means fighting will become more difficult - just like when strangles and arm locks are put in place in competitions. One day I hope to be like Ashley Mckenzie and can be an Olympian fighting worldwide too. - I have fought in Holland before!

February judo 2021.

1st Mar, 2021

During February I have still been able to do my online judo sessions and fitness sessions throughout each day. Regarding the news from Boris Johnson about gyms opening, schools opening etc, we will hopefully be able to all get back together and train. However, for now I am still doing fitness sessions everyday and my judo sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and sometimes Saturdays depending on when my tutor time is online. This Saturday I am really excited to be able to train with an olympian Ashely Mckenzie who has competed everywhere, e.g Rio. So I am honoured to be able to train with him even if it's online!!!

24th Jan, 2021

Coming into a new year of 2021, we are still in a global pandemic and taking all the rules seriously, but due to not being able to do judo face to face I am still lucky enough to be doing online sessions. These include judo on a Tuesday and Thursday with R.K Judo club and on a Wednesday with Leicester judo club along with fitness sessions too, (by Leicester Judo Club) which are Boxing, Hitt and Cardio and a boot camp every Sunday (with R.K Judo Club).

December Judo lockdown

1st Jan, 2021

In December I have been doing judo and workouts online, for example with my national squad team we did the 7 days of Christmas workout where each day we would do a 40 minute session. On the last judo session we dressed up Christmassy and did a fun workout. With Leicester judo club we did a 15 day of Christmas workout all in one session where we did some fitness related and judo related exercises. For example, number one would be a sit up so you would do a sit up number two would be a press up position into a judo hold down then back to number one then number two and then start number three. With my judo club we did a fun quiz and also had judo face masks made for our judo club delivered by post to us and some chocolates too!

November Judo lockdown

10th Dec, 2020

(November) Throughout November as judo still cannot continue indoors, I have been doing my online sessions still. We had to turn boot camp with R.K judo club online as you can only meet a certain amount of people at one time, but it still doesn't stop us from working hard. For this reason I still do all of my online sessions, including boot camp online. My club cannot go indoors due to training at a school, but hopefully in the new year we will be back.

Training into another National Lockdown.

1st Nov, 2020

(October) During October I have been set 2 challenges which is one for RK judo club and one for Leicester Judo club. I train with both as well as my club, Southfields Judo Club, but the challenge set for RK Judo Club was 2000 burpees throughout November, to raise money for bone cancer. I have already done 200 today! And the challenge for Leicester Judo Club was 2500 uchicomi throughout the club and we have achieved that goal ,which is so we can have grappling dummies as we can't fight each other at these times unfortunately.

Judo Lockdown.

30th Sep, 2020

(September) Due to covid-19 restrictions I am not allowed in my own clubs indoor space because we train at a school, however one of the coaches from my club has his own club which I train at as well, so I can train indoors there on a Monday and Wednesday, but initially I do Tuesday and Thursday with another club too but just online ,which is so I can keep my judo skills up and once a fortnight on the park too on a Sunday. The reason its once a fortnight is because I still train with my national squad team online on a Sunday too.

Lockdown judo and fitness.

18th Jul, 2020

Due to Covid 19 still happening we can't do any judo either still because of another leicester lockdown, so instead of training at our dojo like before covid 19, we are able to train together by still continuing to interact with one another by social distancing in a local park. Aswell as training like this on Saturday, I still carry on doing my fitness sessions and other judo sessions on zoom, which is a video chat.

Fitness judo sessions at home

16th Jun, 2020

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday i still carry on training in judo although we are in lockdown. How this is done is that we have this app called zoom where you get to video chat lots of people, so I do that but i also do extra fitness classes such as kettle bell training, core workouts, hitt session and boxercise which are all still done on zoom with the same coach. This means I will still be staying fit, strong and healthy. Along that, i also cycle which in total there and back is 13 Km and a daily press up challenge which is 25 press ups for 25 days.

The Judo British Schools.

9th May, 2020

On the 15th March, the day before lock down, I competed at the British schools and fought my hardest and came out with gold. I am so happy that I took gold, and when this crisis is over i will still get gold!! My dad helped me because he is a coach so he was mat side coaching and helping me achieve the win. I weighed in then got a certificate before I went into the warm up section where I practised for the big win. We were allowed to watch everybody fight on a big television screens to see what other contestants were like and especially in my weight group. Afterwards, we went into a waiting section before we was allowed to fight. I won a total of three fights.

France

30th Oct, 2019

My judo club and I went to France for 5 days and stopped with our French family which we do every year. One year we go to them the next they come to us. We had a full day of judo training on Saturday and I learnt a lot more skills and lots of new warm up activities too. It was a fun-filled day with lots to do and I even met the village Mayor! I have lots to take back and improve in my fighting and I had some really amazing fights too. It is really fascinating to hear French people talking and to fight them ; to communicate with them than fighting just English people, because we know what we all like and how we fight but the French people we don't know how they fight and what their strengths and weaknesses are.

Thetford Competition (August Blog)

22nd Sep, 2019

Attended the BJA Thetford Competition. I was entered into the under 40KG category. As there was only one other person in my group I was allowed to compete for experience only in the next weight category above (45KG). I won my weight group and took Gold beating the girl twice. I then competed in the second group and managed to win silver.

It was a really good experience and I found the next weight group above really tough but gained some good and valuable experience.

aja competition

22nd Sep, 2019

I attended an AJA competition today in Leicestershire. This was a different association to what I normally compete in. The entry numbers were low, but I was able to have 2 fights in the under 40kg category. I won both of my fights by holding both of the girls down and secured the Gold medal.

I am looking forward to going to France in October with my judo club to visit and train with my French friends.

Leicester squad training and grading

30th Jul, 2019

I had an amazing time at the Southfields summer course training which I took place in. During the summer course I participated in the grading in which I got my first brown tab.

I had such a great time and most definitely tiring in the fighting. We learnt some new techniques on the ground which were all very useful. Today I went to my judo club and also learnt a new technique on the ground and learnt a strangle getting ready for Holland if I get selected again this year.

I did my judo training today ready for the thetford competition which will be taking place in two weeks. Wish me luck !! :)

Last weekend I entered the midlands and Notts competition. I entered the under 40kg category which was new to me as I had moved up a weight group.

There was 4 in the group. When I competed I won all 3 fights that I had by Ippon and took away the Gold medal.

I really enjoyed the comp. I am looking forward to the National BJC squad session in September as they will be selecting for Holland.

I am also really excited for the Southfields summer course on the 6th July.

I will update you on how I get on with selections and my grading.

Won bronze medal at open national competition.

30th May, 2019

I competed in an open judo national competition and took a bronze medal. It was a very hard competition, but it was even harder this year, because I went into the next weight category and was the lightest weight out of them all. I had four fights and won three lost one and just missed out on fighting in the final. The girl who beat me went on to win the gold medal, but I'm still very proud of myself. Looking forward to the closed nationals coming up in November.

Leicester Squad Training

19th Apr, 2019

Last Saturday I went to my judo dojo where I did my Leicester squad training. It was really tiering as we did a hour fitness which included running (about a mile) and working on our strength and core. After the fitness session in the morning, we then started our randori and competition level fighting, we also learned a new technique. Overall it was really fun, very hard work and had a great time.
