I am really hopeful that the Covid Restrictions will be lifted soon and we will be able to compete again. I have been ticking over in the gym and at home to keep my fitness up but there is nothing like being able to compete. When we are fully back I will be concentrating on getting selected for England at the World Youth Games, which have been rescheduled for April. I was gutted that after being selected for England for Euros, the competition got cancelled due to Covid. Fingers crossed the Worlds will go ahead!
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone at Leicestershire & Rutland Sport (LRS), for not only supporting me with the Go Gold Fund but also the my boxing club Braunstone Golden Gloves for the grant of £2262. Without the support of organisations like this we might not have had a gym to go back too, this money will help sustain us through the COVID-19 closure period, and put is in a good position when we reopen and get back to doing what we love.
I recently boxed in the youth championship finals and won on a unanimous decision making it my 4th national title and A week after the championships I had a European selection where we sparred all day and had to fight for a place I recently got the letter back saying I'd been picked to go to the Europeans in April in Montenegro and I then had a camp where the 6 weeks hard training began which was the following week at Tamworth where they made us work hard with lots off cardio it was just the European team but unfortunately it has been postponed to may due to the corona virus. because of this corona virus all the gyms have shut but I've been ticking over doing my own little work outs each day and running keeping my fitness up and hopefully the Europeans go ahead in may.
I've Been preparing the last few months for the youth championships. running up too these championships I have been training really hard running 3 times a week and training 6 times a week I also have been on a strict diet to make the weight and going to bed much earlier than I usually do these championships were suppose to take place last weekend on the 14th-16th but due to a fight break out in the venue it was cancelled so I've had to hold my weight for 2 more weeks which has been a struggle but it's all worth it in the end. They will now take place this weekend and I will be fighting for the belt in the youth championship finals on Sunday it will be taking place behind closed doors in Newcastle and I am very excited because it's the first time boxing for a belt.
After having 3 months out and not being able to have any fights due to the brain scan I am now back with the all clear off the doctor which is amazing news for me. This year is going to be one hell off a year first off at the beginning off the month I was up in Sheffield with the england team on a camp getting top high level sparring in and working on technique. I have also been training super hard getting my runs in training 6 times a week for the golden girl tournament over in Sweden this weekend I should hopefully be getting two fights over there hopping to bring that gold home, I am also boxing the following weekend on my homeshow against a good girl from Bristol, I also have the youth championships coming up and looking forward to them all.
After winning the esker box cup in October I had a lot off fights Lind up in November e.g england vs Ireland, nabgc's and the winter box cup but unfortunately I had too pull out off them all due to being ill and getting dizzy spells the doctor said I can't box until I've had a brain scan so hopefully next year is a better year for me and I will come back stronger and better than ever. I'm still ticking over in training and let's see what 2020 brings us 🥇
training is going well for the esker box cup, boxing in Ireland in a couple off weeks. Cant wait to get back in there and get the season off to a winning start.
I'm back from my rest and back training now I'm feeling good, about to start the DISE boxing course in Birmingham and looking forward to the start of the new boxing season and the esker box cup in Ireland
I'm very Disappointed not to be picked for the European youth championships, but I'm not going to let it get me down. I'm now Going to have a rest recharge the batteries and then start getting ready for the new season.
Unfortunately I didn't have the fight I was suppose to have due to the girl pulling out, but I have been training hard and attending the england squads last weekend I attended an england squad in Middlesbrough at Phil Thomas gym and got some class rounds off sparring with both seniors and youths I sparred a senior girl on GB and it went very well. I currently have a england assessment in Tamworth this weekend and the following weekend I have a GB assessment in Sheffield and the weekend after that I have the selections for the Europeans I am very excited.
I attended a 3 day England camp at Catterick army barracks 10-12th of may. I got to train with the seniors who are getting ready for the trinations. My day started with running before breakfast and then various training through out the day working on footwork and technique in sparring and pads I've also been to rotunda gym in Liverpool on the 26th of may with the england team working on technique in sparring and sprints and 1 to 1 pads. I'm boxing in the finals in the east-midlands box cup in Grantham June 2nd I've been dieting eating healthy and training hard. I am very excited for this fight as I know I've trained hard and I am more than ready for it.
