Struggling

With no training it's tough to keep motivated. Haven't competed since 28th Dec which I was lucky to do. Just treated as match play.

For now I'm running couple times a week, using weights to strengthen upper body & trying to stay positive. Just want to get back on court even if it's just hitting with mates.

First winter season win

1st Nov, 2020

Keeping up tennis training with individuals & hitting in a weekly squad of strong players. S&C continuing with added training at home. So last night had my first win of winter season. Won a men's event in Coventry. Great to be back competing for all of us. Then hear that from Thursday 5th Nov another lockdown looks like no tennis which is a shame as there was a junior ITF in the UK. Don't think that'll go ahead. Stay safe

Autumn Training

September has been getting back into routine around school. Continued support from school with training during school days. Few days off whilst waiting for Covid result which was negative. Working on upper body development with my S&C coach to support development on my serve which is going good with my tennis coach. Programme to follow at home too.

Working on improving movement on court. Training outdoor in colder conditions this week. Feeling positive and enjoying some group squads this month, good for matchplay. Hopefully competitions run for October half term.

August Competition

Back to competing 😁🎾 competed at Nottingham Tennis Centre for LTA National Youth League. Competed in 2 out of the 3 weeks. All of us matchplay rusty but good National standard to compete against. Did better in the second week. All tough challenging matches with one going to match tie break. Good practice for new winter season starting 1st September

Summer Training

Weekly strength & conditioning training to get back to where I was before lockdown. Enjoying my time back on court hitting with coach. Working on adjustments on forehand. Hoping to compete next month before I am back at school.

Back on court with coach

Got back to training with coach on court this month. Really enjoying hitting the ball again. This month was just trying to get some speed on the ball and moving well on court. Time to see if I want to change or improve anything. A good time to do this because still no competitions for a while. I would normally be getting ready for busy summer competition season that will have to wait until 2021.

Staying alert, staying fit & back on court

Really happy I can get back to some training on court because lock down rules changed for tennis. Started of gently with practice on the tennis court. Start back with tennis coach beginning of June. Been working outdoors with my S&C coach because we can't work in the gym, really liking the outdoor training especially in this weather. Some different drills outdoors which are tough but still helping keep up fitness level. Good to start working to get my form back for whenever competitions start again.

Lockdown Training

29th Apr, 2020

No coach led training, no access to tennis courts & no competitions due to Covid-19. Just started working with a new coach on court, two weeks in then lockdown! I'm lucky though because my S&C coach has set up an online programme for those that are interested involving group work, challenges and individual programmes. Fun challenges to keep us interested & motivated. For me footwork drills that help on the court, conditioning work with equipment/space I have and outdoor run/sprint drills. I have added in HITT training and a lot of core stability work. Choosing to do shorter workouts but more often to help pass time. What I can't do & miss is hitting a ball across the court. Can't wait to get back to training on court. Thank you for the support. Stay safe everyone
