First Session Back

30th Mar, 2021

Very excited from the first session back at the track this weekend, its been since December that I've been able to get on the gate and it will be interesting to see how I perform after being away from it for such a long time.

Cant wait to be back on the gates with all the people there and be back pushing each other to our limits.

Will be good to see what riders have been putting in the work over lockdown and who is standing out from the crowd.

New Lockdown Plan

1st Mar, 2021

With the race new lockdown plan being released I am hoping to be able to get racing this year and be able to get one major in towards the end of the year.

This is now when training steps up a level as with the possibility of there not being many races as our regular season starts in March I will have to make the most of what we can get.

Missing everything about it as its a year since my last race this weekend, Hoping to be able to be back on that gate soon.

Another Lockdown

31st Jan, 2021

With another lockdown again and the track being closed the only option I had was to keep fit and keep my motivation high.

I have been doing lots of runs to keep fit and also been doing some skills session in the street and taking it back to basics.

Hoping for this to be the last lockdown and for some racing to hopefully kick off this year, cant wait to get back out there and on the gate again.

Birmingham Club Race

31st Dec, 2020

On 5th December i raced at Birmingham In age 17-24.

I had places 2nd, 2nd, 1st in my motos which gave me second gate pick in the Final.

In the Final i took lane 1, i had a very good gate and got into first place around the first corner. I kept in first place until the finish line and took the win.

This was a great way to finish the racing we could do in 2020 and looking forward to doing more racing in 2021.

Back into lockdown

1st Dec, 2020

Due to the 2nd lockdown happening all of my training and my racing events coming up have been cancelled.

This was really disappointing as we were all starting to get back to racing and starting to race more people I usually would from around the country.

In the lockdown i have been focusing on keeping my fitness up by running, home workouts and having fun on my bike.

Im looking forward back to my first race in Birmingham this weekend.

Trip to Manchester

30th Oct, 2020

At the start of the month I took my first trip up to the Nation Cycling Centre in Manchester since lockdown.

It was great to be back there and back at indoor BMX track again.

The facility was very well and clean, also it had very good social distancing measures at all times on and off the track. This reassured the safety for all of the bike riders there and helped us focus on our riding more.

It was good to see some of the riders I haven't been able to see or ride with for many months due to lockdown and to also get some great training in with them.

First race back since lockdown

30th Sep, 2020

On 19th September we had a club members only race at Leicester BMX Club.

It was a very good event with some good competition for me.

I came away with 1st place every lap.

It felt great back on the track and racing again. Can't wait to race in more of these races coming up soon.

Starting to ride at different tracks around the Midlands

28th Aug, 2020

Now that more tracks are opening and we are starting to be allowed to travel, we can go to other tracks in the Midlands.

In the last weeks i have been taking trips to other tracks in the Midlands and having social distanced sessions with riders i would usually be racing.

This is great as i really enjoy riding at different tracks with different riders, especially after having a long time training on my own.

Back to the Track

30th Jun, 2020

With the lock down rules slowly easing, Last weekend was the first time back at the track for 12 weeks.

The session was fully social distanced and was all done very well.

It felt great to be back on the bike and riding the track again, I don't feel like i have lost any power or progression while being in lock down. However i feel like i need to get used to the gate again as i haven't been on it in 12 weeks.

I just need get my technique back and practice it at the track , getting ready for the next racing season.

Lock down Training

29th May, 2020

Since last month i have still been doing the same training as i was, but there is still no sign of racing starting any time soon.

I have improved on my road rides and can feel my endurance getting better, i managed to do 18 miles in just over an hour and 15 minutes.

My runs have stayed at around the same times for the amount of distance that i am running.

I am also getting through my body weight gym sessions quicker now and i can feel my strength improving.

Hopefully we will be allowed to train on the BMX tracks again soon so i will be in perfect condition if any races come up.

Training at home

24th Apr, 2020

As all BMX races are cancelled until 30th June I have had to keep my training up at home to keep my fitness level where it should be.

To do this i have been going on runs 3-4 times a week, going on long bike rides to help with my legs endurance and i have also been doing home workouts (HIIT) sessions, these really help with my fitness.

I have been setting myself little challenges along the way, (how far i can go on a bike ride) and (how fast i can run a certain distance).

So far the furthest i have gone is 40 miles on one of my bike rides.

These have been very challenging and have pushed me to my limits and will hopefully put me into great condition for when we are allowed to race again.

Round 1 of the British Bmx National Series took place in Manchester on 7&8th March.

Race Day 1: I was winning all of my races and it came to the Final, I had a brilliant gate but it wasn't good enough as i was in 2nd place into the first corner, i finished with a strong 2nd place and was a good way to start the season.

Race Day 2: I wasn't feeling as good as Saturday and i took a 1st,1st,2nd in the motos, 1st in my quarter Final and 3rd in my Semi final putting me with 5th gate pick in the Final, I had a brilliant gate again but just wasn't quick enough to get in front of the rider next to me and i finished with a 2nd place on day 2.

Happy to start the season with 2 2nd place Finishes.

Round 4 of the Manchester Winter Series

27th Jan, 2020

It was the 4th round of the Manchester Winter Series

In practice I felt very good and was feeling quick out of the gate, I felt confident for the next day's racing.

I had 3 good qualifying rounds getting me into the semi-final, in the semi-final I had lane 4. I didn't have good lap but managed to get into 3rd place down the last straight and qualify me into the final.

In the Final I had lane 6 which wasn't very good as I have to work over onto the inside, I had a good gate and managed to get into 5th place. Down the second straight I managed to work my way past a rider and I was sitting in 4th comfortably, I got into 3rd with a big lunge at the finish.

This was a good result for me and I am looking forward to the last round on 9th February.

Winter Training and Races

25th Nov, 2019

Now that the BMX season is over i have to get training as hard as possible so i can make the next season my best season.

This winter i am training to make my gate start as fast as possible, and i am also trying to build a lot more confidence when i am jumping.

I have been training at Manchester indoor arena BMX track, this is the only indoor track in England and is great for winter training because of all the terrible conditions that we are going through lately. I have been for a few sessions this winter and i am really enjoying it, i am looking forward for the first national there next season.

Midlands Championships 2019

19th Sep, 2019

It was the Midlands Championships at my home track in Huncote, Leicester

I was riding an age up into the 15 year old boys

I won all my moto's and was feeling fast and confident

I picked lane 1 in the final (my favourite lane)

I had a good gate and was sitting in 2nd comfortably, it came to the last straight and I had my final burst of energy to get into 1st and retain my title as midlands champion, a great way to finish the season.

I have been very happy will all of my results this season, it has been one of my best seasons from the past 5 years.

Now time to get a lot of hard training in throughout the winter, I can't wait for next season and I am determined to get even better results than i did this year.

UCI BMX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019, Belgium

17th Aug, 2019

It was practice day 1 and i was struggling to ride my bike because of my crash at the European Championships the week before, i didn't ride practice day 2 either because it was still painful to ride.

It came to race day and i wasn't feeling much pain in my hand so i decided to race, i got out of the qualifiers with a 2nd,3rd and 4th and i was into the 16th finals.

In my 16th final i didn't have the best gate and i finished in the dreaded 5th position, this ended my World Championships for this year.

I had my hand an x-ray on my hand when i got back and i was told it was broken from my crash in Latvia the week before.

A lot of positives and negatives to take for my final races coming up.

Bmx European Championships 2019 Valmeria, Latvia

18th Jul, 2019

I was feeling confident going into this race as it is one of the biggest races of my season and after the 2 days practice on the track i felt really good.

For the first moto of the day i finished 2nd, in the second moto i finished 4th and in the last moto i finished 4th. This got me through the quarter final.

I had a brilliant gate in the quarter final and got myself into 2nd which meant i was through to the semi final, My best lap of the day.

In the semi final 5 of us were level over the first jump. I ended up hitting elbows with the rider next to me which sent me the opposite way and threw me off the bike.

i was disappointed i didnt make the final but happy with my performance, now onto the World Championships in a weeks time in Belgium.
