As the case of Covid-19 rise day by day we have gone back on to lockdown. That means that us athletes are not aloud to go out and train or even take part in little club race’s any more this wasn’t a choice made by club owners/members this was a choice make from our governing body British cycling.
Wow what year 2018 was. There were a lot of ups and downs one of my ups was coming first in midlands regional series that was a big achievement for me but my biggest achievement for me was becoming British no7 on cruiser. Then there were the downs one of my big downs was Breaking my arm and also having soft tissue damage to my thumb. My last down was my national ranking for this year I finished on the same plate number I'm riding now. This 2019 is my game
Now all the main races are finished for this year we have started winter training. My training is going really well at the moment. My club has been doing a 9AM training for club members only, we do gates, full laps and sprints up the start hill. Afterwards, we do a level 3 coaching session straight after which is more advance. I've recently had my wheels rebuilt on my 20 inch so I've been riding my crusier which has 24 inch wheels on it. I rode that for the first time since the british championship which I came in 7th on the crusier in the final. I've been going to the gym twice a week aswell, pushing my self every time, giving 110%. I've got my club race on saturday I'm currently at second place and hoping i will just as well, if not better on saturday.
I crashed at my clubs national a month ago and it didn't turn out to well for me coming out with a hair line fracture and soft tissue damage on my thumb and ended up being in a plaster for 5 weeks I've got one more week left but I've started to go back gym to keep the fitness up. This has made me more determined to better myself for the 2019 season
A few weeks ago I attended the HSBC uk National bmx series at my home track at Leicester huncote hornets but day one didn't go the way I wanted to go as I crashed in my second moto and ended up in A&E with a possible hairline fracture. But I powered through and raced the next day and got 7th in the b final and I finished 23rd overall. Unfortunately still racing the same plate but it's not going to stop me improving myself next year.
I've done some racing in gosport down the south region for the HSBC UK National bmx race series. I arrived to the race with a positive attitude and mindset. I'd done very well on the Saturday making a final and taking 7th. But on Sunday we only did 2 motos instead of 3 due to 50mph wind !! My upcoming racing is the British Championships in Blackpool which is the biggest race of the season; I've been training and get the right mindset for the race. I'm going to push my hardest wish me luck guys!
I am very proud to say that I have won the midlands regional bmx series this year, after placing 3rd last year. This was one of my biggest achievements that I have been wanting to achieve. I have been training and training for this. I've been in the gym every Tuesday and Thursday night to keep my power and strength up. Let's hope I can do it again next year.
At the weekend it was rounds 7&8 for HSBC UK National BMX Series. It was a really good weekend for me on the Saturday making a final but didn't have the best finish with an 8th by getting sandwiched out the gate and then getting pushed up the corner. Sunday was going really well for me with 3/2/3 in my racing and I was leading my quarter final but then I crashed in the first corner so that was my day ending, hopefully I could do as well as I did at Telford for Gosport.
I raced at Derby on Sunday and the day went really well. moto1 I got 1st moto 2 I got 1st moto 3 1st . then I had a semi final which take the top 4 riders in to the A final then bottom 4 in the B final I had first pick in my semi final so I went gate 3 out of the 8 lanes we have to pick from so then I got 1st in my semi. Then we get to the final last race of the day the most important one of the day, so I had first pick in the final so I went gate 3 again because that's the best lane for that track so I was wining down the first straight then Charlie Clare overtook me in the first corner then I ended up getting 2nd.
I've done some races over the weekends and I would like to say how I felt about my performance I raced at Chesterfield last month moto1-2 moto2-1 moto3-1 and I had 3rd pick in the A final which I ended coming 3rd.Then we traveled to Cyclepark Kent for rounds 3&4 of the HSBC UK national bmx series which has over 200 riders and a national is a lot harder with 3 motos then quarter finals then semi finals then A or B final on the first day the Saturday I made it through quarters and got a semi final and got 7th which put me in the B final and got 7th. Day 2 wasn't such a good day because I only made it to the quarters and that was my day done. Hopefully I can make the final both days at Glasgow Scotland in 2 weeks time.
Yesterday I raced at Doncaster in the south of Yorkshire on my new bike, it turned out to be really hot but a good day. moto1 I got 1st moto2 I got another 1st moto3 I got 2nd, I had a bad start with a wheel spin out the gate I had made the main event. I was leading to the second corner and got over taken and came third, I was disappointed I didn't win but I can take that as a learning opportunity to improve for chesterfield this weekend.
I went to Nate parsons strength and conditioning today, so what happened was he checked my muscles to see which muscles are working well or not so well my muscles all good and I just need to work on my gluteus maximus. Then we moved on to the weights, I was squatting 7.5 kg the reason for me doing the session is to go on a gym program to build my muscles up. For more information visit the website below
