After the country being in lockdown since January and everything being closed, we have been given a date to return to swimming on 12th April. I have been keeping very fit and looking forward to when competitions begin when I can see all my friends again. Hopefully this is the last lockdown and I can get a solid block of swimming training in.
Back in lockdown again and hopefully this is the last time. I have been doing lots of running, cycling and S&C work. Am really enjoying the running but cannot wait for the country to be back to normal so everyone can train again and get back to competing.
I have been very lucky to be able to train during the current lockdown. My hours have been reduced but still managing to swim and do gym. Cant wait to get back racing and training in a 50m pool again. Really pleased now that we have British Champs to look forward to in April.
Still in full training with no races to date. Cannot wait to race again.
This month I have been lucky enough to visit some Universities that I am interested in to study and swim at next year. My first visit was to Bath University which I really enjoyed. The next visit was to Loughborough which was also amazing. I would be very lucky to be accepted to either of these 2 Universities as both have very good swimming groups.
I have been back to training now since 23rd August. Started off with 6 sessions and I am now up to 8 sessions. From the beginning of October I will be back to my 9 training sessions a week as well as 3 gym sessions. I have loved being back to full training and cannot wait to start racing again, although not quite sure when that will be!
As per my previous blog I was really lucky to be able to go and swim in Mallorca in July doing 50m training and some open water. Unfortunately Spain went into lockdown so we then had to come home, but luckily a week later we were able to swim here in the UK when the pools opened. I managed to find a pool even though some parts of Leicester were still in lockdown. I then went on a weeks holiday and this Monday 24th August we have started training for the next season. Fingers crossed everything will be okay now and I will not have to stop swimming again. I missed it so much!
Since the beginning of July I have been really lucky to be able to come out to Mallorca and train in a 50m swimming pool. I have had to gradually ease back into swimming, but swimming is now starting to feel normal again and I am absolutely loving being back. I have also been able to do gym sessions here and also took part in an open water session and a biathlon, which was great. The pools open again on 24th July but I am just waiting to here the exact date we will be back in, so until I here, I will be staying out in Mallorca to train.
Thank you very much for my Grant which I received recently.
Still no training in swimming pools. I have been lucky to train in a very small pool in my garden with ropes/bungee cords, but really miss training and racing now. I have also been running and biking quite a bit to keep fit. We are now allowed to swim open water so I have been visiting Six Hills twice a week which I think will help when we get back to training in the pool again. Cannot wait to get back to normal training!
The past month has been extremely hard because of the present situation with covid-19. I am really missing training in the pool and competing. I have been doing workouts twice a day. I get up early in the morning at 7.30 am and either run or go on my dads Zwift. I then have to do online school work which is a lot more challenging than actually being at school. I then do another workout around 4 pm. I am determined to keep my fitness up and cannot wait to get back in the pool. Stay safe everyone.
I have had a very busy February.
At the start of the month I did my first long course meet in Nice, France. Although, I was disappointed with my times the aim of the meet was to concentrate more on my technique.
I then went straight from Nice for a weeks training course in Lanzarote. I had such a fun week, with extremely hard training, swimming 84K!!!
At the beginning of December I raced at the English Winter Nationals. I didn't do as much racing as I wanted here due to being ill at the beginning of the week. However, I raced my favourite event 200m Butterfly and reached the A final coming the 3rd Youth and a new personal best.
The next day I travelled down to Heathrow and set off on a 2 week training camp to Japan with British Swimming. I had the best and hardest time swimming ever. The training was very intense but lots of lessons were learnt and hopefully will now take them into my training at home. Japan was the best experience ever and something that I will always remember. Thank you to British Swimming for choosing me.
I have had a very busy November. First it was the Midlands Championship. I had just got back from a heavy training week in Dubai so was surprised at how well I swam, getting quite a few pb's and also becoming the senior 200m Butterfly champion.
We then had our own City of Leicester meet at the end of November, whereby I won the 200m Butterfly and swam some other good races too.
I am now in heavy training getting ready for the English Winter Nationals short course meet at the beginning of December and then straight after I will be off to Japan (which I am really looking forward to) for some intense training.
I have had a very busy October!!
At the start of October I did the Inter Counties Championships. I represented Leicestershire and we came 4th overall, getting promoted to the first division for next year.
I then had the Nova meet in the middle of October after training very hard leading up to the meet. I had some really good races and was very pleased with my times for the first meet of the season.
I am at present on a training camp in Dubai, which has been very hard. By the end of the week I will have done 11 sessions. I have really enjoyed the camp and the new friends I have made.
My next meet is the Midlands short course Championships in November.
Been back at training now for 4 weeks. Training is starting to get hard in preparation for the winter season.
Raced at City of Leicester Sprint Meet this weekend. Had some really good races for the start of the season.
Looking forward to racing at the Nova Meet in October.
The last completion of the year was the British Summer Champs in Glasgow.
I was British Champion for 100 and 200 Butterfly and 2nd in 50 Butterfly. I was very pleased with my results after an extremely busy couple of months with GCSE's and representing GB at European Juniors in Russia.
I am now on a rest but looking forward to starting a new season in September.
Just got back from the most amazing time at the European Juniors in Kazan. I was in Kazan for 9 days and it was the best swimming experience I have ever had.
I was very disappointed with my 200 butterfly, but a few days later I came back with a PB in my 100 butterfly and made it to the Semi Finals. I then went on to do the 400 girls medley relay. I was very pleased with my relay and we came 3rd, getting a bronze medal. I made so many friends both from GB and abroad.
A lot of lessons were learnt at this meet and hopefully I can put what I have learnt into the British Champs and then focus on next year and doing really well.
In full training at the moment, preparing for European Juniors.
Weekend of 18/19 May, I had the Midlands Championships. This was not my best meet, due to hard training at the minute and also in the middle of my GCSE exams.
From 16th-21st April I went to the British Championships in Glasgow. This was the most important meet of the year for me as it was the trials for the European and World Junior Teams.
I had a really good week getting many pb's. I did particularly well in 100 and 200 Butterfly becoming the 2nd Junior in GB.
On Friday I found out that I had been chosen for the European Juniors GB team and will be going to compete in Russia in July. I am really excited by this and can't wait to go! It makes all the hard training worth while.
Training is going really well at the moment. I have recently represented East Midlands in Luxembourg and England in Nice. I had an amazing time at both meets gaining PB's in my 200 Freestyle and 200 Butterfly.
I have also just found out that I am 9th on the U18 World Junior Rankings for 200m Butterfly. I was so pleased to read this.
Thank you also to Go Gold for sponsoring me for another year.
In December I competed at the English Winter Short Course Nationals at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. I had an amazing meet with PB's in all my races. I was 2nd Junior in both 100 & 200 Butterfly and 3rd Junior in 400 Freestyle. I also broke one minute in my 100 Butterfly. Whilst at the meet I also broke a number of Leicestershire and East Midlands records.
After competing in Sheffield I was then invited on a 4 day England Butterfly camp which was really hard work, but I really enjoyed it and learnt lots.
When I got home I found out that I had been selected for Phase 3 England where I will be competing in Nice, France in February. I am so excited and pleased.
At the recent Winter Regional Championships, I swam really well achieving multiple PBs and winning the 100 and 200 butterfly in the junior and open category. In every event i competed in i reached the final with i was very pleased with.
Now i am in full training and working hard so i am fit and ready for the Winter Nationals in December.
In October I had my first short course races. I first went to the Inter Counties and came 2nd in 100 fly, achieving a new pb.
We then went to the Nova Meet the following weekend. Over the weekend I had 8 races and in all of them gained new pb's. I now have all my National Times for the December English Short Course Nationals in Sheffield. This meet was to try and put into practice our skills, which I am now getting a lot better at, especially my starts and underwater work.
Next race is Midlands in November.
After having a well needed rest, I am now back at training.
I have been selected to compete at the Inter Counties on Sunday 7th October, which I am really looking forward to.
My next big meet will be at the Nova in October, which I need to try and get times for the English Nationals in December.
I have just finished the British Summer Champs in Sheffield. I had a really good Championships with PB's in every race. I reached the final in all of my events. My best performances were winning gold in 100 fly, 2nd in 50 and 200 fly and 4th in 400 freestyle. I am now having a well earned rest, ready start again at the end of August.
