Back outside

30th Mar, 2021

Returning back to school has been great as it also allows me to take part in some sport for my GCSE sport which has been nice. I have continued daily zoom calls with my coach and training partners and I am feeling great physically for when we return to court. We have to make the most of the outside space we can use for badminton at the moment and have had some fun challenging ourselves running and playing badminton on the sand.

January

29th Jan, 2021

Due to the national lockdown its all back to home training. My coach has once again been doing daily zoom training sessions with me and 2 of my training partners, incorporating lots of different skills in to each session to keep us healthy and positive during this horrible time. It has been a great way to keep in touch with everyone whilst keeping us all fit at the same time. I hope everyone is staying healthy and thank you to LRS for the continuous support.

Lockdown 2

29th Nov, 2020

Throughout the second lockdown my coach has been doing daily zoom calls with me and two of my training partners due to us not being able to access a badminton court. She has pushed us very hard physically so that once we can return to court next week we are ready. It has really helped me to maintain my fitness and has kept me positive throughout this difficult time.

This month I have been keeping up my training and focusing on improvement areas so that when we get the good news that tournaments and matches can start again Im ready for it. We don't know when this will be but have to be ready for anything. Fingers crossed it won't be too far in the future. Thank you LRS for the continued support and funding throughout these difficult months.

Back to some more normality

23rd Sep, 2020

These past few weeks have been very good for me, I have finally returned to school ready for year 11 and taking my gcses's this year. I have also returned to training with the county and have kept getting on to court as much as possible which has been great. I've also been keeping up with an off court physical training plan which is really helping with building up my strength. Yet again, thank you LRS for your on going support.

Back on court

26th Jul, 2020

Feeling great after today because I finally got back on a badminton court. After months of training at home on my own it was great to train with other people, which brought back some form of normality.

Gradual return to training

25th Jun, 2020

Unfortunately indoor sports are unable to resume just yet so it will be a while longer before I can get back on court. But it has been great to catch up with my coach and do some training outside ready for eventually returning to court.

training in isolation

25th May, 2020

Adapting to only training at home has been strange but I am continuing to stay motivated with the support of coaches over zoom calls and this has been a good way to train and stay in touch with other players as well. But I am looking forward to when we are finally able to get back on court.

Lockdown

24th Apr, 2020

During this hard time I have been maintaining my fitness levels with lots of running and biking as well as keeping up with racket skills, using the space in my garden to keep hitting as much as possible, whilst keeping up with a lot of schoolwork. I have still been in contact with my coaches and I am enjoying spending time doing things like baking, that I don't usually get much chance to do. Thank you Go for gold for the continued support. Stay safe.

Competing in January

27th Jan, 2020

At the beginning of Jan I began training at the national badminton centre in Milton Keynes once a week which is a great opportunity for me to carry on developing my game. I competed for the Leicestershire u18 team at a junior team tournament called Rio where we came 2nd for the second year running. I also competed in the first u17 gold tournament of 2020 in Essex where me and my new partner Holly got a bronze medal in the girls doubles. It has been a good first month and I am looking forward to the rest of the year.

Schools finals and shires finals

24th May, 2019

On the 5th May I competed for my school, Iveshead School, in the english national schools finals at the NBC in Milton Keynes. It was a hard day for our team, having 2 non-badminton players completing our team. Loosing out 3-2 in our 2nd group game meant we were playing for 4th-6th place and in the end we finished in a good 4th place. A couple of weeks later I competed for Leicestershire in the u16 shires finals in Aylesbury. We had some tough games against Yorkshire and Surrey but winning both of them put us in the final against Warwickshire and unfortunately we lost out by 13 points on a 10-10 draw. But 2nd place was still a great result.

Easter holidays

23rd Apr, 2019

My easter holidays started early with a three day England training camp at the National badminton centre. This was a long and tough three days but I enjoyed the challenges. After that I competed for Leicestershire's u18 squad in the Inter Counties Tournament held at Nottingham University for 4 days. We competed very well against some tough teams throughout the country and I had some solid performances throughout. Overall Leicestershire came 2nd which was a fantastic result for us to achieve as Leicestershire has never finished with a result that high. I then headed to Belgium to compete in the u17 victor jot international. Unfortunately I lost out in the first round in both girls singles and doubles, I was competing a year above my age at a very high standard and performed at my best. It's been a very busy few weeks but they have all been great experiences.
