This month I have been practising my heavy wind sailing and preparing for my inland championships at draycote water in October and have seen great progress since nationals. Also I want to thank lrs for the funding as with this money I have been able to buy a new aero 5 sail for next my youth nationals at the end of October.
I have just competed in my national champs in my new class aero 5 and was a little over powered and didn’t get the overall place I wanted but the event just showed me that I need to get to the gym and work hard and I hope I can start that this week just waiting on the gym to sort my membership out.
I have just competed in my last topper event and finished 2nd.I would have win the event but due my boat breaking mid race I lost 3 positions and had to miss a race so I got second.
Recently I have found out my sailing club will be opening and this is amazing news so I can get training and practicing for my nationals and now I finally have some proactive to do.now all i hope my nationals will go ahead still unlike my worlds that was cancelled in Italy .The past few weeks I have been keeping my fitness up by running every other day and doing a core workout every other day to keep the sailing muscles working.I have also received my first grant from Lrs and this will go towards my nationals and equipment that will be needed in the future .
To stay fit I have been doing a low carb diet as I am not using as much energy as I was doing before lockdown and am doing an hour of exercise a day just to keep fit and healthy. I have been competing in this virtual regatta app with friends to keep my tactic mind set fresh so I'm not as rusty when I get back on the water during this lockdown I have also seen how much I have missed sailing and its quite ironic how the weather during this lockdown is perfect for sailing.
I've been in isolation a week and have been keeping fit and fixing my boat up with new kit from one of sponsors Allen. Last time I sailed was around 2 weeks ago now at my national squad training weekend at datchet sc and had a great training camp where i managed to get my lighter wind sailing better by using less ruder activity and using the heal of the boat to steer instead ,meanwhile at the squad camp I was able to try all my new kit that was generously given to me by my new sponsor neilpryde sailing who are a massive sailing/windsurfing brand and I was one of the lucky few out of hundreds of applicants to receive the sponsorship (check it out down below) .Also RYA have launched a new scheme to help youth sailors stay fit so check that out on there website.
