What is Bokwa?

Bokwa participants draw letters and numbers with their feet while performing an energizing and addictive cardio workout routine.

Moving together to today's most popular music, participants off all ages draw the Bokwa® L, 3, J, K and dozens of other steps. A great one to do with all the family - mothers, daughters, sons, grandmothers - all can do the class together to create a 'sporting habit for life'.

Bokwa involved calorie burning and improving cardiovascular fitness and the fitness class based environment is on mood improvement and the fact that if you pick the right class it's a great social environment and fantastic fun. It should not feel like working out at all.

Bokwa classes will vary in price across the county but can cost as much as £4.50 a session.

All you need is basic gym wear as all the equipment and music will be provided by the instructor.

  • The word BOKWA is made in two parts: "BO" from BOXING and "KWA" from KWAITO, a genre of music that emerged from Johannesburg, South Africa, during the 1990s.
  • BOKWA was created in 2000 by Paul Mavi, a South African dancer and fitness instructor living in California.
